Played nothing but Dark City games for a week! First time in 20 years I have allowed myself to let my game geek take over. Wolves on the Rhine was by far the best. It captures the feel of being a soldier in the Roman Army, much like the original Grail Quest captured the feel of being a knight.
As in all Dark city games, I take slightly more experienced characters than what the game recommends. I prefer to role play the experience and allow the characters to act out their personalities even if it isn't in their best interest to do so.
Highly recommend taking some one with Medic ability and the game does reward you for having some higher IQ characters with skills rather than the typical four dumb fighters with IQ=8 approach.
The encounters were realistic, (Ie no magic), but there is no reason why magic users would not also work in the game. Would love to see more of these historical "Roman Type" games.

I've enjoyed this adventure, it was actually my first from DCG.
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
The damn bear killed two or three of us the first several times my friend Andy and I played.
I am working to expand the adventure.
