Since things have calmed down and Tembo can work at his own pace, we are going to skip the Medic rolls. Everyone who was wounded is healed for 2 hits by his skill. --------------------------------------------- Reynaldo steps back into the tavern to see the Broken Cask still gathered about thir table, loudly drinking. They initially do not look up, but eventually the orc sneers at you. "Your service is no longer required, human. We found another volunteer." The rest of them laugh at this, but offer no further explanation. You do not see Norx anywhere in the room. Thanks, I was going to make the rolls, but then ProBoards went down yesterday for a while and I couldn't remember who was injured. Reynaldo calmly replies, "All's fair in love and war and business my friends." He bows slightly and backs away. "Now where did Norx go? I didn't see him in the battle."

(OOC: Thanks Lord Inar - sincerely. I wasn't trying to create any friction between Rrowullh and Tembo. OOC: No problem; for the first part he assumed it was a misunderstanding, and for the second part, well, he's probably had to defend Reynaldo before! I think originally we were all supposed to be already together, but if we met here, that's fine too. IC "I too would like to talk with you more. You can tell the mettle of a man by their actions more than their words, and you and your brother have already proven your mettle in my eyes, so no offense taken. Now what did that mage take from Mother Sara's?" Tembo starts looking through the bag.

Reynaldo calmly replies, "All's fair in love and war and business my friends." He bows slightly and backs away. "Now where did Norx go? I didn't see him in the battle."
Bazz smiles. "Maybe he's workin' for us, now, eh? At any rate he stepped out after the fighting died down, to get some things. Not sure how you missed him. Doubt you'll be seeing him anymore. If you want to give him a message, we'll try to pass it on."

"I too would like to talk with you more. You can tell the mettle of a man by their actions more than their words, and you and your brother have already proven your mettle in my eyes, so no offense taken. Now what did that mage take from Mother Sara's?" Tembo starts looking through the bag.
The bag has a host of alchemical ingredients and formulae. You know from looking through Mother Sara's shop earlier that she has some skill in that area, as well as her herbs and healing sbilities. For whatever reason, the snaca mage seems to have been trying to get these varied alchemical supplies - the purpose of which are beyond your understanding.
As you are sifting through them, a pair of guards arrive and take the trussed-up snaca. "You men - and beasts - fought well. Your timely arrival tipped the scales. And you nabbed a prisoner for us! We'll take him to the barracks. Maybe Cappy can interrogate it when it wakes." He notices you going through the bag. "Was this snake stealing that from Mother Sara?"
You answer as you desire, and they thank you again and carry the bound snaca to the barracks.

["I think originally we were all supposed to be already together, but if we met here, that's fine too."
The party that was hired to find the elven shield in Cygnosa was Reynaldo, Tembo, and Norx. That's our story and we're sticking to it! The rest (the tigrans, Enyeto, and hopefully Mundy) were strangers before this night's events, but are now allies, and assuming Reynaldo and Tembo agree, are now members of the party.]

After assessing the situation behind the stable. Enyeto is satisfied that there is no immediate threat. "Moe thank you for the help and information." "The contents in the bag must be important to the snakes for them to go through all this trouble." Enyeto then goes back to the ensnared Snaca. "Cat man the snakes made a hole in the wall behind the stables." "The stuff in the bag must be important for the snakes to risk so much." "Does anyone know what the papers meant?"

Quote: [The paws of the tigrans have evolved fingers, they can indeed drink as opposed to lap. That is how I've always played 'em, but we have our own campaign world we are creating here, so if you feel strongly about redefining some aspects of the tigran race, that is cool with me, amigo.
If you want the tigrans to have a bias for a drink like "Bloodwine" that is cool, and the tavern would have a small stock as this keep is on a pass through the Dayraise Mountains that connects the major human lands to the west and the wild veldts and steppes of the east coast, where most tigrans are concentrated. With either bloodwine or water, though, that dwarf would have been disappointed!]
I'd assumed that Tigrans had evolved fingers for handling weapons and etc., but what about their feet? Do they run around barefoot, or do they have specially crafted footwear? Or have they evolved human-like feet too? I guess what I'm getting at is: Are Tigrans just humans with a tiger head, claws and some fur? (cover up the head, put some human clothes on them and don't show the claws and you'll never know they're Tigran) Or are they more like Tigers in a more humanoid upright form? (running around barefoot, weird shaped feet, a little bit harder to 'blend in') To be honest I'm fine with either extreme, I just want a better picture of what everyone else is seeing when they realize thee guys ain't human.
I do like the idea of there being a "Bloodwine." Whether it's really made with fermented blood, or just somehow flavoured with it might be a mystery to the outside world, but a signature drink would be nice.

Khanmahtt interrupts the guards as they begin to take the prisoner. "As you said, we fought well and 'tipped the scales' against the snakes. I am an expert at balance. We changed it tonight. We fight like demons. (As he speaks Khanmahtt gives Enyeto and Mundy a "back me up here" look. He isn't threatening anything, he's just starting negotiations by first laying out the facts.)
This prisonurr was taken, and held, by us. It was Ahr man who saved the life of your Healerwoman. He has done his best for me, but I still bleed from wounds."
"We have given you many gifts this night. What can your Captain offer us in return?"
"Healing potions cannot be bought here, but I think we have earned more than a few from your stocks. If your Captain finds answers from this prisonurr we would value them too. And lastly Hue-man... I - am - no - beast."

Quote: Or are they more like Tigers in a more humanoid upright form? (running around barefoot, weird shaped feet, a little bit harder to 'blend in') Definitely this. They are evolved from great cats (some reflect a tiger-like appearance, others more lionesque) and their posture and motion reflects this. They are generally barefoot but many do make shoes or even boots for themselves for travel off the veldt. Given the nature of their feet, human (and humanoid) boots won't fit.

As Khanmahtt finishes speaking, one of the guards looks about to explode in anger, but his companion puts a hand on his shoulder, and speaks to you.
"Sorry about the 'beast' comment, mate. Not meant to be an insult. I have known a tigran before, and he was as honorable as any human, dwarf, or elf I ever met. Forgive my companion's words.
"But we ain't here to bargain. This snaca is not yours - it was not your keep that got assaulted, friend. Yes, your help was invaluable, but the outcome was inevitable.
"This snaca was evidently a mage. so maybe a leader. We are going to interrogate him to find out why he attacked, and your greed - if that is indeed why you want to barter this prisoner, which I find surprising coming from a tigran - is not going to stop us.
"As for healing, maybe you should just ask. You might be surprised.
"Now I assumed you were on our side, not just a mercenary here to stake out a claim of prisoners. I'll be back with a dozen swords if you are going to fight over this snake."

Khanmahtt relaxes and nods in appreciation of the guard’s apology, but as the guard continues to speak his expression and body language shows utter confusion. (I hope the humans, or at least the guard with experience with Tigrans, can interpret.)
He says to that guard, “Bahrghan? Bahrturh? I don’t seek to Bahrturh. My Hue-man words are misunderstood. I am not being greedy. I WAS asking. At the right time. I know you will have this snake. But think on this…”
“If you take the prisonurr away and I say nothing. Then later I asked a different guard or someone at your barracks for healing. Or ask what answers are found from this snake. What would happen, you think?
I would seem like a Begghur to you, Yes? Or worse. (He shoots a look at the other guard who made the “beast” comment).
I rreminded you of Ahr contributions now, before the snake goes, so you know my asking is worthy. Not begging.

The guard smiles at you. "I see now. Meaning gets lost in translation, eh?
"Look, the captain, and all of us, saw you fight. Cappy would be here to thank you personally for your aid, if he could. He's a bit busy, you understand? We are not sure we got all the snakes, we still have a hole in the wall, we have wounded to tend to, dead to prepare for burial.
"Go to the barracks and look for the medics. They are busy as hell right now, with Mother Sara down - may Solarrmys aid her spirit - but they can give you a healing potion or two. As I said, everyone knows what you did, and will be happy to help you out. But things are still a little chaotic, eh?"
He and his companion lift the bound snaca. "We are heading to the jail, which is beside the barracks. You can accompany us there if you want, we'll point out the medics to you.
"My name is Oswald, by the way."
With that they start off; Khanmahtt may accompany them if he desires.

That's what I was hoping for. So a basic disguise will fool someone who isn't paying attention, but not a determined observer. BTW, just trying to figure out how to Quote just part of a post?) (This playing by post is a little tricky to be properly understood. There ain't no tone of voice or body language to fall back on. Twice now my guys have been misundertood. Whew, being Tigran in a human world ain't easy! )

[To quote part of a post, you will see the whole post between those quote tags and markings. Just delete the all the crap, leaving the part of the post you want, and also leaving the tags at the front and the end of the post. As far as misunderstanding, it's roleplaying, baby! ]

"Trahnslayshun. 'Lost in trahnslayshun,' hmmm, yes I must rememburr this words."
"Thank you Aahswahld. I am glad of your tohlerance and help. I am called Khanmahtt. I hope now you will be prideful to say you know another Tigran. I will come with you as fahr as the barracks. To avoid more Trahnslaysuhn problems," he smiles at Oswald, "and to keep two more eyes on your Captain's new snake."
To Mundy and Enyeto, "Please tell my brother and Rreynahldoh where I have gone, and that I will meet them at the Inn. If you wish, you should join us there. I would very much like to learn how you spin those axes, and Rrowullh would like to see that longbow of yours Archer."
(Khanmahtt will accompany them to the barracks and the medics. He might linger there to see what more he can learn, but barring further encounters will ultimately catch up with the rest of the party at the Mistwraith Inn.)

When Khanmahtt leaves with the guards he sets himself to the task at hands. He goes to the last snaca he killed and checks the body for valuables. Then pulls out a skinning knife and begins to skin the beast. He turns to his companions, "My people have a saying,'If you kill it, you keep it'."

Enyeto finds nothing of great value on the snacas, but one did have a tarnished, silver ring on a finger. There may be an inscription; it will need cleaning before he can tell.
Khanmahtt goes to the barracks where the medics are working on a half-dozen wounded soldiers and an equal number of non-combatants who were also wounded. He talks briefly with a harried medic, who gives him three stone vials of a concoction called mashu (heals three hits each vial), but he learns nothing else of value.
--------------------------------------------------
Eventually the party reconvenes at the Mistwraith Inn. The conversation in the greatroom is subdued. The innkeeper gives you two rooms for free for the night, for your service to the keep in battle, to divide among yourselves. He makes you an excellent meal of beef stew and brown bread for a silver each, along with fine ale.
The only other patrons in the greatroom are a few travelling soldiers (which look to have fought this evening as well) and a trio of peasants that must be travelling through the area. Eventually they go their rooms to sleep.
[If there is any questions or actions you have still, let me know now; otherwise we will go to the next morning, and the next chapter.]
