[Marc - Rrowullh is the archer, so I assume you meant to address Khanmahtt about accompanying you - if I am wrong, let me know and I will revise this post!]
As Reynaldo says he will cross the bridge with one other, Norx begins to step forward, but stops when the leader addresses the tigran. He shrugs and looks toward the boulder covering the cave entrance.
Mundy glances at the drizzling sky in irritation, and strings his bow. As Reynaldo and Khanmahtt step onto the bridge, he nocks an arrow and looks to the other side.
The pair of adventurers step onto the bridge and proceed across cautiously. The only sound beside their slight steps is a soft wind-moan from the gorge below.
The two make it to the other side. They turn back toward their companions; there has been no movement of any kind from under the bridge or the closed cave.

[OOC: Nope that's good] Tembo moves up to Norx. "Pretty smart how Reynaldo keeps the newcomers involved so we're all in this together, eh?"
Reynaldo holds up two fingers and points to Norx and Shadout to cross next.

Norx looks surprised at Tembo's words, then nods curtly. "Yes, I suppose so. If he truly suspected danger, doubtless he would have had me accompany him." He moves to the bridge and with a sweep of his arm, addresses Shadout. "Well, wizard? Shall we dance across the bridge?" When the wizard joins him, he follows across the stone span.
Again, there is no movement or noise.

[OOC: Hope it is not too late for a bit of revisionist history. I was a little surprised that Reynaldo asked Rrowullh to cross first, but let’s stick with that if we can.]
Rrowullh was in the process of knocking an arrow, “Reynahldoh my bow is ready, but if it is my sword you value now, then so be it. Either way I’ll follow your lead. I’ll keep the bow ready for when we reach the other side.” He returns the arrow, but keeps his bow in the left paw. Drawing his rapier with his right, he follows Reynaldo onto the bridge.
Satisfied with the bridge and judging the distance too far for simple rope work, Khanmahtt shifts his attention to the cave door. He moves to place himself charging distance away from the door, but between it and the foot of the bridge.
In hushed tones he says, “If we are going to cross, let’s be quick and quiet about it. I’ll mind this door and cross the gorge last. Inyaytoh my demon-frrend, will you watch this door with me? I think Munhdee and the Shahdout are already curious about what lies below the bridge.” He couches his spear, and settles his shield, then nods to his brother, “Go, now.”
[He plans to begin backing away from the door and towards the bridge when it’s time for the last pair to cross.]

Enyeto "Aye Khan I will take rear guard with you." Enyeto nocks an arrow and begins to move beside Khanmahtt toward the bridge.
Shadout pulls a sling from somewhere inside his cloak and places a stone in the cradle. He then moves to the side preparing to use his missile if necessary.

[Sorry about the mix-up with Rrowullh - I'll shut up now! ;D]
[Also I was wrong on the time - it was almost noon when you guys got to the base of the mount (a quarter day's journey from the keep, you left in the early morn), right now it is about 4 pm...]
[We are moving forward a tad - there is nothing until the last pair - which is apparently Khanmahtt and Enyeto - is about to cross...]
When most of the party has crossed, and Khanmahtt and Enyeto are about to do the same, the boulder is suddenly rolled away from the inside, and a massive, blue-grey, armor-clad creature steps to the entrance.
"Eh? I thought I smelt sumpthin' nasty - tigrans! Come to papa, little kitties!" The huge rocktroll emerges from the cave, lumbering toward you, massive shield in one hand and great hammer in the other...
You are close to the bridge now, and you are reasonably confident you can outrun the creature across the bridge before it reaches you...
[Characters on both sides of the bridge, state your actions!]

Khanmahtt calls out, "Inyaytoh the others have crossed, so our task here is finished. Fighting that thing gains us nothing. The time to run is now!" Not taking his eyes off the troll for a second he takes one shuffle step backwards, listening for either retreating footsteps or the flight of Enyeto's arrow.
[He'll stand if Enyeto goes for a parting shot, but otherwise he's going into a headlong retreat.]
Rrowullh takes aim on the troll from the far side of the bridge (+1 to hit), but will not fire unless others do, or until just before the troll reaches Khanmahtt.

Enyeto turns and sprints for the far side of the bridge.
Shadout quickly stuffs the sling inside his cloak as he runs to the end of the bridge. He shouts, "Get behind me, if he crosses let me take the first shot." Shadout begins to draw on the magic that flows through him.

Khanmahtt turns and does his best to find out if a Tigran from the veldt can catch and pass a human from the great swamp.

The last pair of adventurers cross to the other end of the bridge as the lumbering troll finally reaches the end on his side. Here he stops and begins to yell.
"Cheap bastards! How am I supposed to feed my family with your dishonest scurryings-about, eh? I'll be watching for youse on the return trip. You'll pay five-tuple the rate then! Stinking jerks!"
A voice calls from within the cave. "Herbert! Dinner is getting cold!"
"OK, Gladys!" The rock troll then makes an obscene gesture and re-enters his cave. He does not roll the boulder into place.
With that, the party continues on its way.
After several more hours of hiking, as the gray sky dims, you sense that you are nearing the ridge running north-south on top of the mountain. You enter a dense patch of pine woods, following the trail. The birds are silent here...
[Every character with Tactician, Survival, and/or Stalker roll 3/IQ against that skill.]

[Okay two dumb questions and then I'll shut up and roll. Isn't Stalker normally rolled against DX? What if a character has BOTH Survival and Stalker, does he make two rolls, or is the one roll modified somehow? For a while there I thought Rrowullh had them both, but actually he took Stealth instead. But the question still stands.] [Khanmahtt rolled a 13 which exceeds evenhis base DX, and is no where close to his IQ8.] invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3203353/[Rrowullh rolled a 12 which equals his adjusted DX, but blows past his IQ9] invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3203369/

[Okay two dumb questions and then I'll shut up and roll. Isn't Stalker normally rolled against DX? What if a character has BOTH Survival and Stalker, does he make two rolls, or is the one roll modified somehow? ] 1. Yes, normally that is the way it works. There are situations where the skill is applied differently, however, whether as dictated in a written adventure or by gamemaster/judge fiat. In this case, you are trying to detect an ambush. I decided thiose skills would help, but it is obviously a mental detection rather than a physical (DX) thing. One of the advantages of flexible rules... 2. In that case make one roll, add both skill levels to get the target number.

As you make your way through the darkening, dripping pines, Enyeto thinks he sees a gleam of metal amidst the leaves. As he looks closer, he spies movement! The ambush is ruined! The young warrior alerts his companions as a bunch of ragged-looking goblins charge from the left side of the path; you spy several archers drawing their bows as well. The battle is joined! [Someone - first player to respond - roll a d6 for initiative. If you beat the goblins' roll, go ahead and start posting your actions, either shooting bows at melee or archer goblins, or meleeing against the melee goblins. There are six goblins with melee weapons, at least two archers in the trees. If you fire arrows at the goblins in the trees, make a 4/DX check for their cover (behind trees and leaves). Their initiative roll is a 4; if you tie, roll again against a 6.] invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3205182/
