Jones would realize that by the time he gets himself into a position to fire a shot, Pike would have retrieved whatever he's taking out of the saddlebag.
Jones would also know that hitting Pike is not as easy as it normally would be, let's say there would be a -2 penalty on the shot.
The horse presents an easier target, +2 on the shot. However, it would be wishful thinking to believe the horse would kick Pike if shot, or somehow prevent him from shooting at you. Bucking and running away is more likely, or simply dropping dead if enough damage is done.

Using my Karma point didn't help did it? I told you Orokos doesn't like me. Sheesh, 6 dice rolled, 5 6's and 1 5. I can only hope Pike's rolls are just as bad.

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen Orokos roll three 6s.
I'll update tomorrow.

Thanks Vlad, it was fun, although a bit frustrating with the dice rolls in that last battle. By the way, did you take Jones' long coat (armor) into account when you calculated the damage he took?

Yep.
5 -2 = 3 damage, enough to kill him.

Great game, vlad. As always, I love your combination of quality and speed. Very impressive. I could never do it.
Sorry, araman, I really screwed this one up. From charging head long into Pike and forgetting to add that extra d6 to my damage really messed things up.
Maybe someone will put up a nice tombstone for us on the Texas plain.

Maybe other characters will stop by that tombstone, on the way to settling the score. Wonder if the trail will continue.

Dark, no worries. Life and death happens. I wondered if Mack Peters might have shown up, with all the shooting going on. If he was still alive. I could have played it a little differently myself. My initial inclination was to try to wake you but when Jones spotted Pike, I decided to roll the dice, and missed. Also, I didn't want to set us up for an area effect spell if I didn't have to. Maybe I should have had you roll for me since my rolls were pretty off the chart, in a bad way. lol
It would have been nice to see what else Vlad had in store for us.

Well, thanks araman, for not letting me feel too bad. Yes, it would have been nice to see what else was in store for us, like what the title of the game was all about? Vlad, I see Biblical references in... all of your games. Am I right?

Darkscar, most likely, you're correct. They were profuse in The Outlaw Trail, and to a slight extent here, but I'm not sure Black Dahlia had any Biblical references in it, but then again...
What else was in store? Well, do know I stay about a post, if that, ahead of you. The only thing pre-written is the opening post, and then I sketch a loose outline. Very loose. I just follow what seems logical after that based on your actions. The Guns of Canaan were going to be a big, bad set of weapons to use against the big, bad, bad-guy at the end. They would have been mentioned at some point in Chapter One.
Darkscar, don't feel too bad. You made some good plays. The reason 12 revenants were swarming the house? Because YOU, my friend, had a stick of dynamite. If you didn't use that dynamite against them, I'm not sure how you walk away from that. But, you did, so good show. You also correctly surmised Mack Peters, and others, were dead. That was in my outline had you decided to explore after defeating the Hoodoo Man, played by Robert Mitchum.
