Snaca A has taken 5 more hits from Khan and Enyeto; he is down to 1. Snaca F is dead from Rrowullh's arrow and Shadout's spell. Snacas B and C have taken 2 more hits from Shadout's spell, so they are down to 6 and 8 respectively. Still to go this turn; Harzak, Mulherrin, Reynaldo, and Tembo, and Mundy. (I'm confused I thought all the spearmen took 5 hits each from Shadouts first magic fist? How can B and C still have 6 or 8 hits left?)

(I'm confused I thought all the spearmen took 5 hits each from Shadouts first magic fist? How can B and C still have 6 or 8 hits left?) You are correct. I began counting the wrong way after turn 2 actions. Hmmm... So the truth is this - Snaca A had taken 5 hits. With 3 from Khan and 2 from Enyeto during Turn 3 actions, he is at 1 left. (Yay! I was right on that one!) Snaca B had taken 8 hits (5 from Shadout, 3 from Harzak on Turn 2). Harzak put 1 more hit during Turn 3 attack, so he has taken 9 hits total so has 2 left. Shadout's spell put 2 more on him - so he is gone. Snaca C had 1 hit left after Turn 2 actions (5 from Shadout, 5 from Tembo). Shadout put 2 more on him - so he is gone, as well. So the only snaca left when Mundy shot was A - so he fired at him. See TURN 3 below for corrections. Thanks for catching this, Chris!

PLAYER TURN 3
"Slippery snake hold still!" Khanmahtt thrusts once again towards the spearsnake. The agile foe slides aside, and the Tigran's spear slams into the upraised shield, but sontinues to slide past until it bites hard into the scales. (3 hits)
Rrowullh flinches as the wizards' pair of fireballs flies past him. He draws another arrow and takes aim at the severely wounded remaining archer. The arrow strikes the swaying snake but only a glancing blow. (1 hit)
Enyeto pulls an arrow form his quiver. From a kneeling position, he lets the arrow fly toward snaca A. (2 hits)
Shadout once again speaks in a tongue no human should. He holds his stick aloft, pointing it toward Snaca F. He punches the air. (4 hits to Snaca F; 2 hits to B and C) Snacas C and F fall.
Mulherrin slams the butt of his runehammer on the stone floor of the tunnel and swings it overhand to send a 2FT fireball at Snaca B's chest - but it sails over the snaca's head to splash fiery brilliance on the tunnel beyond.
"Yarrr! More! More! MORE MUSIC!" shouts Harzak as he crouches down to swing at Snaca B's snaky body. Though a light blow (1 hit), the snaca falls.
Mundy sees Khan facing the lastsnaca and takes aim. His arrow hits square in the beady eye (a "3" to hit - for 17 points of damage)! The snakeman is hurled backwards and is instamtly still.

[Sorry about the confusion, guys - but I am sure you are used to it!]
The last snaca falls and the party pauses to catch their breath and bind wounds.
[Everyone can make their various healing checks or drink healing potions - say what you are doing now.]
Harzak sees no more heat sources in the dark, so evidently there were no more snacas beyond these six. On two of the bodies you find pouches; one has 45 silvers, the other has a pair of small reddish gems.
[Craft: Jeweller automatically recognizes these; a successful 3/IQ Merchant check will as well.
Do you want to divide these? Or keep them in a pool of communal loot?]
The snacas had only a few arrows, but enough to replenish those fired. Besides their weapons and shields, they have no other equipment.
When everyone has healed, you continue south down the black tunnel.

Shadout moves to Enyeto's side. "I can heal that wound. If you will allow." Enyeto is torn between his distrust of magic and the pain from his wound. One thing he knows any arrow wound can bring on a fever and kill. So, he nods his head. Shadout begins to mumble and passes his staff over the boys wound. Shadout will heal 3 pts on Enyeto He will offer the same to Tembo.

Ignoring his slight wound, Harzak trundles up to examine the red gems. He looks at the torchlight through them, taps them lightly on the head of his hammer, sniffs them and rubs them on his beard. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3545651/ 3d6+1 → [1,1,6,1] = (9) Mulherrin examines the snaca bodies thoroughly, especially the way the arms and tails connect to the torsos. He rips a scale and a fang from the one he scorched with a fireball. Afterwards, they converse quietly, but heatedly, in Dwarvish over the idea of individual vs communal loot. Mulherrin turns to the rest of the party "Let us wait until we are in a place of safety with beer to lubricate our deliberation of battle spoils. For the present, as most heavily protected, Harzak will be vault for the gems. Vault is the right word, yes? If the rest of you wish, he will be vault for the silver as well."

It adds to the range of success rather than the actual dice roll.] The stones are carnelians. Harzak knows their value varies depending on region, though most dwarves (and dwarggs) hold them to be valuable. Based on what he saw at the trading post, he could sell these to a merchant for perhaps 75 silvers each.

Khanmahtt is shocked as the two arrows dispatch the snaca confronting him. But recognizing the fletching on one, "Inyatoh! You rejoined the fight my friend." He turns and sees Shadout casting a spell over the youngster. He cautiously approaches the pair as the youngster's wounds begin to heal. "This victory goes to the Shahdout and his might. Many snakes has he killed today. Thank you for your powerr, but more thanks for healing my friend. Inyaytoh you are now better, yes? Purrhaps when the Shahdout has aided Temboh, the Healer can do more for you."
Rrowullh turns to Mundy, "This flickering light seems made for your arm and eye. Never have I seen an arrow hit such a small slithering target like that" he says in awe. Gathering himself somewhat he approaches Reynaldo, "It seems my story to the Nekromantzer has become More true. If this coin is his magic spy, let it witness fact." He fishes the wrapped passcoin from it's hiding place, and unwrapping it partly, places the coin edge briefly in the blood of each dead snaca. Satisfied that some blood stain will remain he carefully re-wraps the coin and hides it away once again.

Enyeto looks up and smiles at his friend, "I will recover my friend. It will take more than this to end my life." "Thank you mage."
Shadout nods toward the youth and checks the other members wounds.

Hey guys, a quick heads up. I'll have only sporadic access to email all this week and no access at all the following week (gotta love a vacation spot where the only place where you can get any cell phone reception is to climb a cliff, and I'm not being sarcastic!)
- Marc
P.S. I'm fine with people playing my characters, or just having them sit out. Whatever is best for the group and the story.

[We'll move things a little further on.]
Tembo Heals 2 hits on himself and another 2 hits with Herbs. He then Heals 1 hit on Enyeto and another with herbs. He heals the hit Khan took.
When Shadout asks him about needing healing, he says, "I am still injured, but I feel you have expended much power. We may still have need of your might, so let us wait to see what the future brings." Reynaldo takes off the Ring of Visual Diffusion (and gets 1 FT back at the end of the combat as usual).
After a brief rest, the nine companions set off again down the black hall. You proceed cautiously, but encounter no more difficulty.
After three more miles, the tunnel ends and you feel yourselves in immense blackness. A trail of worn lanterns illuminate a trail straight ahead toward a lit structure a half-mile away, but beyond that all you can sense is a dizzying space.
[To be continued in the next thread, ROC5: The Great Abyss. I'll post it in the next day or so, and I will add a post here to let those with email alerts know when it is up. In the meantime, ask any questions or issues you guys might have. If anyone wants to spend xp, let me know here or by pm.]
