Hey, all,
So after boldly announcing we were back in the saddle last June, we have put out...one adventure!
Well, we'd hoped to have more than that out by now, and there is no point making excuses. Dark City Games is part time project, but it is something we love, and we are dedicated to it, and to you.
So I want to let you know what to look forward to as the year goes on.
George has already let you know he is working on a Western from the native american point of view, which will be both realistic and also have elements of indian mysticism.
My project right now is tentatively called "The Iron Moons." It is a sword-and-planet adventure. That is, it belongs in the Legends of Time and Space line, but it takes place on barbaric worlds. The most famous example of the genre is Edgar Rice Burroughs John Carter of Mars stories, but my favorite are the Leigh Brackett stories, particularly the Eric John Stark cycle, and in particular The Book of Skaith. JCoM is in the headlines recently, of course, with the movie that I have yet to see. But I recently re-read The Book of Skaith and I am fired up to do a sword-and-planet. As those who have played through Emerald Twilight and Raid on Cygnosa know, I have no problem letting science fiction bleed into my sword-and-sorcery (probably a consequence of my love of the Kane stories by Karl Edward Wagner), so this may be a the first time in years I have written something "pure" in a genre! I will make a separate announcement about this when it is a little further along; right now the tentative ETA is summer.
Another project is a submission from a customer. This is very far along in its development; I have read the first draft, and while there were structural problems, the plot and quality of the writing were very engaging. The writer understood our criticisms and took them to heart, and is editing and restructuring the adventure now. I have high hopes you will be seeing this in a few months.
Finally there is a fourth project in the works, which I do not want to talk about too much, as I despise vapor ware (my credibility was shot a long time ago, so that is not an issue!). As it develops, we'll talk more about it, but I am pretty excited about it right now.
OK, friends, I just wanted to give you an update on what is coming down the pipeline. If all goes as planned, we will have four more great products for you before the year is out.
As always, George and I appreciate your support over the years, and into the future!
Bret
