Maybe you guys covered this, already?
In TFT, magic fist would do XD6 - 2X, instead of XD6 - 2 and fireball would do XD6 - X damage, instead of XD6 - 1.
The LAW descriptions make a much smaller difference between magic fist, fireball, and lightning than TFT does...
5ST (TFT), magic fist: 5D6 - 10, fireball: 5D6 - 5, lighting: 5D6
5ST (LAW), magic fist: 5D6 - 2, fireball: 5D6 - 1, lightning: 5D6
Was this intentional?

Hey, zot,
The changes to damage were intentional, but there is a limit to how much fatigue you can put into those spells. You can put a max of 2 into magic Fist and 3 into Fireball. So you can do d6-2 or 2d6-2 with MF, or d6-1, 2d6-1, 0r 3d6-1 with FB.
The changes were done for one major reason - to make those spells worth taking. In Wizard, why would you take Magic Fist if you could learn Fireball? Same with Lightning Bolt - why would you take lesser missile spells if you could learn it? This way, they are a little more useful at any stage of your career.
Secondly, we made some mechanical changes from the original Wizard spells (and other rules) to also avoid copyright issues.
Hope it makes sense, and thanks for asking!
