Reynaldo looks back at Bazz and smiles, "Get your money ready gents. You'll soon see why we're worth the down payment." He sprints outside to the sound of the commotion, unsheathing his rapier.
Tembo stands up slowly, shakes his head and then slowly moves to the door, very deliberately pulling his mace from its loop holder.

The two cowled figures rise from their table, weapons suddenly in hand. The Spearman has also picked up his shield. The other now has a bow, with an arrow nocked, but not yet drawn. Their drinks are still untouched.
[Does this room have windows that may show the commotion outside? Even if they do not open (for shooting) can you at least see out? If so...]
- The archer quickly moves to the window to take a look at what can be seen outside. The spearman moves into a position between the archer and the door, but with a "weather eye" towards the room at large, and the members of the Broken Cask in particular.
[If the tavern room has no windows (or they are already filled with other onlookers) here's plan B. Based on what we saw when entering the tavern, is it a stand alone building or a 'row house'? That is, if there happens to be a back way out, is it likely to open on an alley or can we reasonably get around to the front ? If stand alone...]
- The spearman leads through the serving area and into the back room. The archer follows a bit more carefully, keeping an eye on the room's occupants as he does.

[The Bloody Head tavern has no windows (the off duty soldiers appreciate their activities being non-viewable by their superiors). There is no back entrance that you are aware of - it is set against the wall of the keep.] One of the knot of off-duty guardsmen who ran out the door steps back inside, eyes blazing. "The damned snake-men are in the keep! All able-bodied men, to arms!" Then he turns and joins the clash of ringing steel outside. Reynaldo and Tembo head for the door. [Blacknigel - do you act as above or go out the door? Norx?] The Broken Cask make no attempt to join the keep's defense, instead sitting and drinking their ale. [Slight cut scene...] Enyeto and Mundy were in the last group of travellers to enter the keep for the evening. As they look about the cortyard, wondering where fate or their purse will allow them to stay, they see sudden movement in the shadows of several of the buildings. Several people standing about are cut down, and you see sinuous shapes swarming over the courtyard. You cannot tell where they originated from, for they are everywhere. The guards are caught unaware, and as the alarm is raised, the soldiers stumble out of the barracks and other buildings unarmored and with makeshift arms. The two of you recognize in eachother a degree of martial skill, so you stand side by side as a trio of snacas bear down on you... [Roll d6 for initiative (anybody in the group can do this, as it covers the entire group) using Invisible castle, as detailed in the info thread. The snacas roll a 1 invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3125257/]

[Your party has initiative.]
Tembo and Reynaldo emerge to see dozens of snake-men fighting clumps of soldiers and civilians. They see the ill-equipped soldiers that had been drinking getting cut down. Tembo's eyes dart to Mother Sara's doorway - two snacas are entering the building!
The trio of snacas close on Enyeto and Mundy... [You may act first]

The spearman Khanmahtt and the Archer Rrowullh follow Reynaldo and Tembo out the door. [not sure if Stalker skill is applicable here, but just in case] Khanmahtt moves out, spear at the ready, looking to intercept any incoming snacas, but if none have detected him entering the fight, he looks to charge the nearest within range. [Mother Sara's perhaps? I rolled an 8] invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3125410/Rrowullh clears the door and begins looking for a likely target. A snaca with a bow, a snaca headed towards the Tavern, or a snaca going for the killing blow over a downed opponent. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3125414/

The song of steel crescendos as more warriors enter the fray!
[To save time, when you make a "to hit" roll, go ahead and make a damage roll as well - you can separate the two rolls at Invis. castle with a ";", but leave the "number of rolls" entry as "1". In addition, specify in the text for the roll whether you are using your weapon skill as a "to hit" modifier or "damage" modifier. I will assume in this case it is for damage.]
[Black Nigel, there is no opportunity for Stalker skill here given the circumstances - I should have let you know. We'll use those as "to hit" rolls...]
Kahnmahtt sees several possible targets. He sees Tembo start toward a building where two of the swaying snacas are entering...and then another uncoils from the shadows behind him, preparing to strike at his back! Kahnmahtt charges with his spear and hits! [roll damage - add an extra d6 for charging with polearm, so 2d6+3 (base plus weapon skill).]
Rrowullh sees a bleeding snaca swaying over a downed guardsman, curved sword raised for the killing blow...he speeds a shaft into the snakeman! [roll damage, d6+1 (weapon skill).]
[Blackjack - you might have noticed there are no rules for fighting with two weapons - no problem, we have two different thoughts on the drawing board. From now on, if you want to strike with both it is a 4/DX roll to hit with each rather than a 3/DX (you may add your skill as a "to hit" modifier for each of these strikes). In this instance, because of the suddenness of the attack, you were only able to strike with one, so no penalty...]
Enyeto strikes out reflexively as the foul-breathed snakeman leans toward him...and hits! [Roll damage, d6+1 (skill used for damage in this case, as detailed above).]
Mundy, always one to have his bow strung, effortly draws an arrow and hits a second snaca of the three setting upon he and his new, youthful campanion. The arrow sinks into scaly flesh...[Roll damage, d6+4 (skill added to damage in this case, as detailed above.)]

Kahnmahtt's spear tears across the snaca's side in a spray of blood [9 hits, -1 for scaly hide is 8 points of damage], stopping its pursuit of Tembo as it wheels around and strikes at its new foe [the snaca Counterattacks, which means you will not be able to Dodge (because you have already acted this turn)]. It's small curved blade licks out and hits the tigran [10] with a shallow cut [4 hits, leather and small shield stop 3, for 1 damage; invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3126504/]. Rrowwullh's hasty shot glances off the scales of the snakeman doing no noticeable damage, [2 hits-1 for scales=1; this snaca is already wounded but this is not enough to put it down] but the killing blow is halted as the snaca focuses on the new threat.

"No! not her!" Tembo bolts to the door of Mother Sara's as quickly as he can, sidestepping any Snacas he may see on the way. He'll attack the first one he sees that is actually attacking her. (Bonus to hit) 3d6; 1d6+2 → [6,1,3] = (10) 3d6; 1d6+2 → [6,2] = (8) invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3126658/Reynaldo moves up to the closest snaca that is already engaged with a guard and strikes at it. "I'm with you good man! For God and country!" (Bonus to damage, included in roll) 3d6; 1d6+1 → [2,1,6] = (9) 3d6; 1d6+1 → [6,1] = (7) invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3126661/

Tembo sprints madly toward Mother Sara's doorway, sidestepping one snaca about to deliver the death blow and missing the one launching itself at his back - which his tigran ally stikes with his spear.
[Mother Sara's is a turn of movement away - so we'll save your rolls until you burst through the doorway, next turn.]
The snaca that was about to deliver the death blow is stopped by Rrowwullh's hasty shot, and then Reynaldo's quick rapier finds its beady eye socket, piercing the brain and sending it thrashing backwards in its death throes.
[After Norx takes his action (there is a snaca nearby to attack, if that is the desired course), and Enyeto and Mundy roll their damage, the snacas will have a turn, and then it is back to the party - beginning with Tembo entering the healer's.]

"A fine show my cloaked friend. You distracted the thing enough to grant me the kill! What next? Oho, Tembo runs into the thick of it. To the herbalist!" Reynaldo, with much flourish, follows Tembo.
