"I would have been happy with a bonus to dodge."
"You could just have it only block one point of damage for one attack (character's choice). That way it's very similar, but not as effective since the character is focusing the defense on just one opponent."
You know, I like both these suggestions! We're going to playtest all three of these and see what makes sense! For the rest of this combat, we are going with my initial thing, -1 to opponent's DX. We'll try one of the others next.

OK, friends! I know Lord Inar, Black Nigel, and Blackjack have been coming by several times a day, and to be fair to the most people we will move forward. I had initially said one or two posts a day, I'd like to stay at that pace, but we'll give everyone a couple of days to respond. If not, we will continue to move forward.
Mojobilbo, Taketoshi, we can easily reintegrate you into this combat when you return, no problem! For the moment, the snaca facing Mundy disappears into the fog of battle with him.

PLAYER TURN 2 Tembo bursts into the tight room to see the two snacas destoying the boxes and vials on the shelves and the counter. He does not see Mother Sara initially. One of the snacas looks up as Tembo's mace smashes down hard on its shoulder [previous roll in reply #41, 8 hits-1=7]. Reynaldo, seeing Tembo go into Mother Sara's yells out, "But a moment my friend! I must aid a newly found ally!" Reynaldo strikes at Kahnmahtt's assailant invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3133084/3d6-1;1d6 → [3,4,3,-1] = (9) 3d6-1;1d6 → [1] = (1) Reynaldo's thrust is this time turned aside by glinting scales! Rrowullh takes his next shot at the snaca confronting Khanmahtt. This better aimed shot hits the snaca solidly, and ichor flows from the arrow wound. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3133331/ 3d6-1; 1d6 [3,4,1,-1] = (7) 3d6-1; 1d6 [4] = (4) The snaca thrashes and falls senseless to the ground, still twitching. "My arrow has flown true. Khanmahtt GO! The Macer has followed the snakes alone! To his aid!" "NO Brrotherr, the snakes have bows. That one will be my meat!" Sidestepping the foe in front of him, Khanmahtt charges the snaca that readied the bow. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3133368/3d6-1; 2d6+2 [1,6,2,-1] = (8) to hit 3d6-1; 2d6+2 [6,3,2] = (11) damage As the snakeman draws a bead on the beset youth wielding the tomahawks, Khanmahtt's spear hits the snake man full in the torso, erupting from the chest, sending the bow flying and ending the snaca's life. Enyeto ducks under the snaca's feeble attempt. As he rises he swings for the soft belly of his enemy. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3135989/ I rolled a ( 6). invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3135992/ Damage (5). Enyeto follows through and buries his tomahawk into the snaca's belly. The snaca staggers but still stands.

SNACA TURN 2 The snaca facing Enyeto, wounded and sensing its allies' deaths, redoubles his efforts to take a human down with him. He strikes and...Enyeto ducks and rolls to evade the Snaca's attack causing the blade to whistle past him harmlessly. Snaca to hit roll: invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3137443/Dodge: invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3138235/ (I rolled an 8). In the rest of the eastern half of the courtyard, Snaca H has slain the guardsman it was grappling with; Snaca I has fallen to a guardsman's sword; and Snaca J has disappeared behind the stable. In Mother Sara's, Tembo maneuvers so that he can see into Mother Sara's fortune telling room. "Mother Sara, are you safe?" There is no answer from behind the curtain. The snaca that Tembo wounded stikes back in hissing rage - and hits! invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3137446/[3 points of damage, armor stops 2 so 1 hit taken.] The second snaca swings it arm, knocking more vials shattering to the floor, and moves to Tembo. [It will be able to attack next turn.]

[Does Tembo take the hit or try to Dodge? If Dodge, roll! I will edit this post after you respond.] Has Mother Sara responded to Tembo's call? If he hears nothing or she says she's being attacked, he will take the hit, so he can continue to attack. If she says that she's OK, he'll defend, waiting for Reynaldo and Norx.

[OK, edited Snaca Turn 2 post to reflect Mother Sara's silence and your taking the hit.
It is now player Turn 3 - go ahead and state your actions. And Mojobilbo, taketoshi, if you pop back in just state your actions, you will be re-integrated! (Or re-assimilated...)]
[RE-EDIT- no problem Mojobillbo, I will try to make it clearer in the future! I checked again and I could have explained it was ya'lls turn better - apologies! I norder not to go back and do a bunch of re-edits, we'll just drop you back in on TURN 3 - fog of war, etc. Your post above will be your turn 3 action.]
For Clarity's Sake - Post your Turn 3 actions now!

Grimly Tembo presses the attack on the first Snaca. "Cold-blooded beasts!" he cries as he strikes...hard. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3138817/3d6; 1d6+2 → [1,3,4] = (8) 3d6; 1d6+2 → [4,2] = (6) Bonus to damage included Reynaldo looks at the downed snaca and says to his companion "Thank you, and we should speak after this battle is done" and with a sweep of his rapier, rushes to Tembo's aid. "I am here, good Tembo!" [OOC: can I make it Tembo in time?] Reynaldo will maneuver behind the Snaca just approaching Tembo and strike from behind if possible. Inspired by Tembo's powerful blow, Reynaldo himself aims well and drives his rapier deep into the snaca's side. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3138822/3d6; 1d6+1 → [3,6,1] = (10) 3d6; 1d6+1 → [6,1] = (7) Bonus to damage [OOC: Let's just say I'm glad that our GM can verify my rolls!]

PLAYER TURN 3 [Enyeto has Dodged.] Mundy fires another arrow at the snaca... invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3138779/(4 hits-1 armor = 3 hits) The arrow flies true again but the wounded snakeman presses on to Mundy... Grimly Tembo presses the attack on the first Snaca. "Cold-blooded beasts!" he cries as he strikes...hard. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3138817/3d6; 1d6+2 ¨ [1,3,4] = (8) 3d6; 1d6+2 ¨ [4,2] = (6) Bonus to damage included [MFB edit-mace does d6+2, so with +1 to damage you should have been d6+3 - so 7 points rather than 6, unless I am missing something!] Tembo's mace smacks through the snaca's skull, sending it loping back in its death throes! Outside, Reynaldo looks at the downed snaca and says to his companion "Thank you, and we should speak after this battle is done!" and with a sweep of his rapier, rushes through the doorway into Mother Sara's and to Tembo's aid. "I am here, good Tembo!" Seeing the first snakeman down, Reynaldo tries to maneuver behind the Snaca just approaching Tembo and strikes, but the snaca is able to face the new threat. Inspired by Tembo's powerful blow, Reynaldo himself aims well and drives his rapier deep into the snaca's side. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3138822/3d6; 1d6+1 ¨ [3,6,1] = (10) 3d6; 1d6+1 ¨ [6,1] = (7) Bonus to damage [MFB edit - took a few liberties with your description, Marc, to help depict the character placement - sorry! Next turn one of you will be able to strike from behind.] Once again Reynaldo's steel sinks deep into the scaly flesh of a snaca - though this one continues to fight! He immediately swings at Reynaldo [Counterattack] - and hits! But the off-balance strike does not penetrate the cloth armor! invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3138955/ Seeing Enyeto dive and roll to avoid the snaca's blow, Khanmahtt pulls his spear free of the impaled snaca and moves to attack. Jabbing with his spear, he aims the shot well to ensure he hits. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3139064/ 3d6-1; 1d6+2 - [3,5,4,-1] = (11) 3d6-1; 1d6+2 - [1,2] = (3) [3-1=2 hits] "To yourr feet quickly. That was a nimble leap and rroll, but I have only wounded this one more I fearr. We need to finish him." Indeed, as Khanmahtt stirkes the snaca, it immediately Counterattacks! The small, curved blade finds purcse in the tigran's side as he withdraws his spear [12 to hit, 6 damage-2 armor = 4]. Khanmahtt begins to feel the pain of his wounds... Rrowullh takes aim (+1 to hit) at the snaca closing in on Mundy and looses an arrow. invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3139091/3d6-1; 1d6 - [4,5,5,-1] = (13) 3d6-1; 1d6 - [3] = (3) It sails just wide of the mark.

[OOC: I just noticed as I was typing this that I entered my roll wrong - I applied the skill bonus twice. I intended to apply the skill "to hit" to distract the snaca since Enyeto dodged and can't defend himself. But I've mistakenly ALSO applied the +1 it to damage too. Please reduce my damage accordingly]

[Looking towards next turn. What would it take for Rrowullh to try and re-establish line of sight to the snaca that went behind (or was it into) the stables? How close to Rrowullh is the snaca that killed the guardsman? ]
