If it will help, I can try to post some of my minis, both good and bad to show what a "mere mortal's" minis look like instead of all the competition minis that you normally see in photos.

Oh, yes, one other thing. It can take a long time to paint them but there's no law against playing with unfinished minis. In fact, just a simple skin coat on the face and hands and visually it's halfway there! I do it all the time.
As to getting your minis, I'm honored you would consider me first, but my goal is to get you to keep them!

Oddly, they look better in the photos than they do in real life!
The Deep Wars ones I did spend quite a bit of time, but many of the others were pretty quick.
One that I love, because it is so off the wall, is the crime boss between the two skeletons. That was originally a HeroClix figure of Marvel's Kingpin, but I changed the skin color and jacket to make him more of a New Orleans crime boss (inspired by Daddy Mention from The Big Easy)

Muscle relaxant and less twitching! Too much though and well...! that's what i was thinking. plus, it makes me a little more patient. i hope you don't mind the captions i put on some of the pictures. EDIT: i deleted my comments. you're comments there made me feel bad. particularly the one with the mice. i meant no disrespect, just chuckles.

Oh, I hope you didn't delete all of them!
I didn't mind at all!
In fact several of yours inspired mine, but many of mine were just descriptive, not a response to yours.

i left the one you acknowledged, deleted the rest. the lack of acknowledgement left me feeling uneasy about how they were received. i felt downright ashamed about "PirateChik69: Want to play with my mouse?"

i gots questions regarding painting... first thing that comes to mind right now, if i handle these things with my greasy fingers for awhile before deciding to paint them, should i dip them in a vat of acid or something before attempting to paint? second, what kind of brushes and paints etc. would i need? if you could provide links to the exact brushes and paints, that would be great. P.S. lord inar - i would not be so quick to count yourself out of a march delivery date. if i were in charge of this stuff, i would ship to the highest pledgers first. if your paints, cases, etc. were part of the pledge, that would move you up in line in my book. Sorry I am late replying to this. Lord Inar has given some great advice, so I'll just supplement it with a little more. As far as prep, I soak all my metal figures in Pinesol beforehand. With plastic, I will probably just soak them in dishwashing detergent - that is what the instructions with my old Airfix soldiers said to do before painting them. i doubt Pinesol would hurt the plastic, though. I may not even prep them at all - depends on how they feel when they arrive. The paint I use is cheapo acrylic paint that is available in the hobby stores like Michaels and so forth. You get three times a smuch for a third of the price. The difference in quality is noticeable as you paint - that is, it does not flow off the brush like the good stuff - but the finished paint job is still good. This way i have built up a very large library of colors for a smaller price. I usually buy a couple or three bottles every few months, so I have about 70 different colors, all for around $70 or less. As far as brushes, I get the cheap ones from Michaels, in packs of five or 6, for acrylic paints and usually replace them each year. I have always had bad luck maintaining quality brushes so I don't bother taking care of them any more. After each use i dip them in the brush cleaning solvent (also available from hobby stores) and they last well enough for me.

Hey, thanks for sharing, Marc, I have a lot of those old figures. I always wanted that Heritage Balrog, I think it came with the Mines of Moria Paint and Play set. Great job on the deep wars stuff. Also, great to see those John carter figures (flanking the Grenadier gladiator). Never have tracked any of those down, back in the day or now.

thanks both of you for the advice. been wondering where you were mister... Work has been rather time consuming, and some rehab on a badly injured ankle. Obviously I cannot type with a painful ankle. Nice to see this place gets by fine without me, though. In fact, maybe I'm not really needed...*sniff*
