It will be tough seeing our coach go. As they pointed out in last night's game, in his 10 years at the helm of the Saints, we've had the 2nd best Win % in the NFC, a Super Bowl title, and another appearance in the NFC title game. These have been some heady days. But, as last night showed, the defense is non-existent, and we have no balance on offense. 52 passes, and what, 17 rushes. Then you look at Detroit and see that balance--that's what wins. We need to get back to that balance, and they only way to get it is to improve the defense, strange as that may sound. I suspect the guy they bring in here next year will be defense-minded. That's usually the way it goes, bring in someone who is the opposite of the last guy.
From a fans point of view, I guess it was an entertaining game last night, but it's a song and dance I've seen all too often this year. Get down, throw to come back, fall short, but Hey, the stats look great. We outgained the Lions in yards... but never stood a chance in the game. So long, Sean. It's been fun.

Hey, darkscar, I didn't think Sean would really leave the Saints, that's why I was mocking the Detroit writers. I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention to what is playing out in New Orleans. Sounds like you really expect him to be gone.

It's been an entertaining 1st half of 49er/Lions football. Let's see what the 2nd half looks like.

Still more horrible calls today.

Still more horrible calls today. Apparently the Titans are so bad that the refs no longer feel the need to call them for offensive holding.

I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention to what is playing out in New Orleans. Sounds like you really expect him to be gone. It seems if coaches have two losing seasons in a row, they're gone. Payton has been great, but the defense is a total wreck, last in the league in points allowed and NOT by a little bit. Since he's come back from his suspension things haven't been the same. We had a good year but these last two have been pretty miserable. We (the Saints) have to play basketball and have these high-scoring games if we hope to win. I don't know if he'll leave. I was suggesting his time has come and he needs to be fired, and we need to go after an aggressive assistant who's looking to be a head coach. The feeling I get is he won't be fired. If he goes it will be his choosing.

Beware Black Monday...
Not to thread jack, but while I'm here, it only took four years, but I finally have an avatar. Check out my Knight Hospitaller. I've held a long fascination with the Crusades, and the Knight Hospitallers, in particular. Check him out (not my mini).

Although it might just be me, it looks rather like he stepped in something sticky and is lifting his foot to try to get rid of it!

Predictions for the 50th Super Bowl -
I think (really hope) it will be a better game than the NFC Championship Game. There will NOT be a "wardrobe malfunction" during the halftime show. I don't have a horse in the race, but will probably root for the Broncos even though the Panthers will probably take it.

The Panthers are a hated rival of my Dirty Birds (glad we gave them their only loss--about the only thing we did right the last half of the year), so I have one more reason to root for the Broncos besides Peyton's farewell performance...

I'm hoping for a good game, that's all. No blowouts, please.
And, get your edits in while you can. Next week, I'm going over everyone's picks for 2015, to see how brilliant, or less so, we all were.
Get well quickly, Bret. You'll be dancin' before you know it.

I'm pulling for the Broncs, and I think they will win 21-20.
