In the pre-season, the Birds looked better than I've ever seen them, and I've been watching them since about '74-'75. In a fit of crazy optimism I picked the Falcons to go 12-4 and win the NFC South, so I was expecting a very good team. I wasn't expecting 7-0 after seven games. I'm as surprised as everyone else at that.
The Cowboys...I actually think there's a good team in there somewhere. Geez, I had them winning the East. Their defense is good. I think their corners may be able to go toe-to-toe with the Birds White-Jones-Gonzalez trio. The Cowboys' turnovers have been their undoing. If they hadn't dug such a hole last week with the turnovers against the Giants, they probably win that game. It'll be a tough game, nationally televised, so the crowd will be stoked. Should be interesting to see how both teams perform in the spotlight.

Emm...I'll get back with you on that, with about two minutes left in the game. I would have if the Falcons didn't have it 2nd and goal at the 1 with the chance to take the lead Great game. Our defense made a couple of goal line stands. There may be hope for us yet.

Two drives inside the 5 late in the game, and only 3 points to show for it were a killer. But yes, great game! Looking forward to Part II soon.

Part Deux tonight, Mr. Taltos.
I have no delusions about making the playoffs, but it would make the year to give our bitter rival their only two losses of the season ;D
Egging the team bus? Really?

I saw that story about airport workers egging the Saint's bus! Hilarious.

Egging the team bus? Really? A new tradition has been started... We need to holdup our end of the rivalry, and start winning some of these games. 2-11 in the last 13 isn't getting it done.

We may have had a chance if Brees didn't keep throwing it to the guys on the Falcons. And his record ends, too. No TD passes. After 5 picks, seems fitting.

I don't know why the Birds got away from the running game. The first drive was so impressive, and all they did was run the ball, except for one 8 yard pass. Then, they decided to throw every play after that. Both defenses looked good. Our offense seems to hit long lulls in games now, where they can't get anything going. It's a good thing the defense has picked them up. I'm seeing trouble on the horizon--like around playoff time.

For one karma point the Saints win the division over the Falcons. In the unlikely event neither wins the division, nobody owes nobody nuttin'. Whaddya say? I say that is one bet I will take. You're on for a karma point. Well, vlad, it's now official. You win the karma point as the Falcons have clinched the NFC South Division Title in a mere 12 games. Ugh! Congratulations. Here comes your karma point.

The NFL is thinking about abolishing the kickoff, citing injury concerns.
mister frau blucher and vlad, I know you have some thoughts about this rule change that's on the table.

The NFL is thinking about abolishing the kickoff, citing injury concerns.
mister frau blucher and vlad, I know you have some thoughts about this rule change that's on the table. As someone who watches 3-4 games per week, I just don't see it. I'm sure the NFL is correct--injuries, a lot of them, are taking place on kickoffs. But I honestly can't remember the last game stoppage I saw because of an injury on a kickoff. Maybe in the bulk of these injuries the player is able to walk off the field under his own power (only to discover one finger is missing when he gets to the sidelines), so we don't actually know there was an injury in the first place? So, my initial reaction is I don't like it. But, I also don't like seeing the majority of kickoffs sail through the back of the end zone. The kickoff, something with the potential for so much excitement, is becoming one of the more mundane features of pro football. The proposed change sounds better than just starting the game at the 20 yard line, but I'd be interested in hearing other suggestions.
