2 for 4 last week - Vegas, here I come, baby!
49ers at Falcons
Tough call. I would have leaned toward the 9ers, but that was very inspiring comeback for the Falcons. Getting over that hump, in that fashion, has the team believing in themselves, in addition to rallying around Gonzo. But the 9ers look rock solid, and Kaepernick has a bit better cast around him than Wilson. 49ers 30, Falcons 28. (Hope I'm wrong, Vlad!)
Ravens at Patriots
I discounted the Ravens last week - so do I now over-react and pick them? After all, Gronk is out, Woodhead is slowed, etc. But it just feels like the Patriots are going to do it this year, as long as Brady is at the helm. Patriots 35, Ravens 27.

3-1, HA. I'm not taking either of you guys with me to Vegas!
Okay, here we go...
Ravens v Patriots. Second year in a row these two have hooked up in the AFC Title game. Familiarity breeds, well, familiarity. The Ravens have it in for the Pats and have their number this year, winning another nail-biter on the road, with their D coming to the fore on the last drive, picking off Brady in the end zone. 34-30 Ravens
49ers v Falcons O-Line--advantage 49ers D-Line--advantage 49ers Linebackers--advantage 49ers Safeties--advantage 49ers RBs--advantage 49ers
Winner of the game...Falcons.
Analyzing a game by comparing positions is insane!! Give me a hungry team at home, led by a five year vet at QB, 70,000 crazy fans in the stands causing all kinds of problems for the 49ers offense. 70,011 vs 11 can't be beat. Falcons win an unexpectedly low scoring game, 24-20.
Congrats, vlad, make your plans for New Orleans. Come by and see me, and I'll buy you some gumbo.

I went 0 for 3 last week. Vegas would love to see me!
darkscar, Oh my gosh, I hope you're right, and some authentic Cajun gumbo sounds fantastic!
The Ravens-Patriots: I'd really like to see the Ravens win, and I think they have what it takes to go up there and beat the Brady Bunch. I thought the Broncos were better than the Pats, and the Ravens beat the Broncos, but will they beat the Pats? Tough decision, very tough decision. Let's go 31-27...Ravens in a upset (Pats fans can rejoice. Remember I went 0 for 3 last week).
Falcons-49ers: I'm staying true to form and not predicting the games of my team, but I will make one prediction: the game will be won by the team with fewer turnovers. Now I'm going to wash the gray out of my hair from last week's game and hold my breath till it all ends Sunday.

Way to go Ravens! RATS!! Well, vlad, I was sending positive vibes your way. In the end, I'll take blame for the loss. A Saints fan rooting for the Falcons goes against the laws of nature itself. I apologize.

You know, darkscar, I was going to point the finger at a receiver tripping over his own feet when there wasn't a defender within 15 yards of him on a catch in the last 2 minutes; a QB inexplicably fumbling a perfect snap from center in the shotgun that cost at least 3 points; a defense that was non-exisent in the 2nd half for the second week in a row, but now that I think about it, I believe you are to blame. Thanks for owning-up.

My long-winded Super Bowl prediction...
The 49ers started as a 5 point point favorite a week ago, but that line has now dropped to 3.5. The experts seem to think the 49ers are the better team, but in sports the better team doesn't always win...
I like the Ravens in this game. They're a team that's paid their dues the last few years, and seem to be playing for a purpose. On Sunday, that experience and maturation wins the day. The Ravens score one more TD than the 49ers, the 49ers kick one more FG than the Ravens, for a difference of 4 points.
Ravens 27, 49ers 23.

I'm liking the Ravens, too. Too much too soon for the 49ers. Plus, the older brother (the coach of the Ravens) always wins against the younger brother (the coach of the 49ers), right? ...right?!?
Ravens 30-49ers 17 in a not so close Super Bowl.

*Berman voice* So you're ALL going with the Ravens.
I agree the 49ers are the better team, and that the best team does not always win - that's why they play the games.
But I see the 49ers winning in the trenches. Their offensive line is the best we have seen in a decade or more, and they have the "skill" players to take advantage of it. Their D-line will win that battle, too. I see Kaepernack struggling a bit, but still having a decent enough game.
49ers 28, Ravens 20.
Also I predict we will be told on multiple occassions that Ray Lewis is retiring, because you can never point that out enough if you are a television executive.

The Ray Lewis end-of-career World Tour is getting a little tired with his antics, but I guess you only retire once...usually.

It was a good game. For a moment it looked like it'd be a blowout, but then the lights went out. The reason the lights went out? Rats. Big arse rats. I'm talkin' wharf rats, man. Rats the size of basketballs all up in the lights, chewing and scratchin'. And you thought the only rats at the game were (fill in the name of a player or personality here).
...I'm kidding about the rats. Honestly. No, really.

Heck of a game! Strange how the 49ers didn't run when they had a first down from the five, though. Hindsight is always 20/20, but the run game has been their bread and butter all year. Not that it would automatically result in a touchdown, but it seems like a solid choice for at least one of those plays rather than 4 passes.
But that kind of close game is great for the Superbowl, really caps off a nice season.
Hey, did you guys know that Ray Lewis is retiring?
