Hi,
I was hoping for some clarification on the rule for winning a check where the Attacker and Defender choose how many dice they want to roll against ST and IQ. Is this primarily for play using a Gamemaster or against another player? I play solo either battling characters against themselves (small skirmishes) or using the gamebooks so I was wondering how this would work. The printed adventures usually dictate how many dice to roll against the trait in a given situation correct?
Thanks! Joe

Joe,
Welcome to our boards!
Assume 3d6 is the default for any enemies your characters are facing. When playing through one of our adventures, there will be times when you are instructed to use more (or less) dice for an opponent's check.
If playing with a gamemaster, he makes the call on how many dice the characters under his control use.
There may also be times when you are playing solitaire, or with others against the gamebook, that you feel it might make sense for an opponent to use more dice (like say if you are trying to use Mind Control on a foe with an IQ 0f 17). In these instances, use your discretion! But it is safe to assume a 3d6 default, as this keeps the playing field relatively level.
Welcome again!
Bret
