Watching the last twitching coils of the snaca to be sure they will lie still, Rrowullh casts a quick glance around the ruined shop interior. No gleam of obvious value catches his eye, so what drove the Macer to abandon all friends and foes to reach this goal?
Even the arrival of the Stranger explains nothing, and the words exchanged with Rreynahlldoh adds but little. Following the Stranger as far to peer through the curtains reveals much.
"Ah! You have the gift of healing." The quick and involuntary gasp escapes before Rrowullh realizes he has spoken. Seeing Tembo nod absently he continues, "Hmmm. This woman has some value to you. Purrhaps more than you know. Why else would you forsake your companions and abandon all to follow the snakes into this lair?"
Turning to Lord Gareth, "M'lord, this woman is valued by you as well I think. This Hue-man is one of compassion, to take such risks for so little profit. Had my brother not come to his aid this one would have fallen before he reached this door, and the woman would breathe not."
To Tembo, "Macer, many have fought and been wounded, my brother amongst them. Would you share your skill with those outside? Or does your skill extend only to your own people?"

Khanmahtt glances up as Reynaldo approaches. "We have found these, but do not know if they are plundered or sorcerous tools. Do you know these marks? The demon-fighter here (indicating Enyeto) seems to know as little as I do. Help us bind this snake before it wakes. I think there are answers to be had."
To Enyeto, "Your hands and feet are fast. Have you some rope or cloth we can tie the snout shut or gag it to not speak? Tie the arms together at least. I know no way to hobble a snake."

Tembo to Gareth: "Quickly!... sir, ...could you bring the Yarrow from the front room, I may need some more to help her bleeding."
"I am no mere errand boy," he gruffs but he briefly looks to the front room, before returning. "The mess is too great to locate your herbs. But it seems you have succeeded in staunching the flow of blood. That is well. For I have more to discuss with her."
Rrowullh to Lord Gareth, "M'lord, this woman is valued by you as well I think. This Hue-man is one of compassion, to take such risks for so little profit. Had my brother not come to his aid this one would have fallen before he reached this door, and the woman would breathe not."
He acknowledges your words with an absent nod, apparently lost in thought. He looks through a small doorway in the back of this room. "I believe her bed is through there. The two of you, move her there to continue your ministrations. I will be at the inn; notify me if there is a change in her condition." He then goes out to the front room.
-----------------------------------------------
As Khanmahtt, Reynaldo, Mundy, and Enyeto ponder their captive, the guardsman who fought near them approaches with a limp. "Would have been different if you gents hadn't come to our aid. You really cleaned up this end of the courtyard. I'll be sure to tell the captain. My name is Moe, by the way."
Looking at the unconcious snaca, he offers some advice on how to secure it so it cannot slither away. Then, he looks to the other guards, who have now congregated behind the stable. There is no clash of arms there.
"This is strange. I've been here for two years and the snakies have never attacked us, much less gotten in the wall. Well, I better check in with Cappy, see where those that got away ended up." He walks off toward the other guards.
Checking over them, the items from the satchel were surely taken from Mother sara's though their significance is not apparent to the four of you.
As you ponder the items and the now-trussed up snaca, Lord Gareth exits the healers, and after glaring at you and your handiwork, stalks off to the inn.
From the tavern near you comes the sound of laughter.

Reynaldo helps with the binding and then says, "This bag does seem to come from the herbalist, perhaps my friend can identify why the snake man wanted them. Do you mind?" If they're fine with it, he'll take the bag back in to Tembo quickly and then go back to the inn. ----
"Ah yes, my companions are not helpless against an onslaught, as Mother Sara here was. It was the only thing I could do. As to healing, my ministrations should work for all who are wounded, but I will need to check the herbs for potential poison. Bring all who are wounded here and I will do what I can." Tembo wipes his brow in anticipation of the work ahead of him. "Oh, and friend? I have a favor to ask of you. While I am helping the others, could you keep a watchful eye on Mother Sara? I'm not sure the captain of the guard has her best interests in mind. You saw his brusque behavior."

[This was probably not clear, but Lord Gareth is NOT the guard captain. The captain is with the bulk of the guards behind the stable now.]
[Healing - you can roll for each wounded party member, using the herbs you find scattered on the floor to add a +1 to the check. Every successful attempt will heal up to 2 points of damage (your skill level).]

(OOC) I'm connected once again. Lightning fried out router.
Enyeto looks at his companions and says, "Watch the Snake closely. I'm going to find out how they got into the Keep." He then jogs over to the guards. He then asks Moe "Have you found out where the snakes entered the Keep?"

Rrowullh shrugs and nods at Tembo's words. "Rude or not, the Lord Gareth is right. Let's move this woman to the comfort of her bed." Rrowullh takes her feet as Tembo has her head and together they move Mother Sara and get her settled.
"My name is Rrowullh; Ahrr-Oh-Ay-Yu-eL. My brother is called Khanmahtt. I will watch her since you ask it of me, and I see the value she has to you and the Lord Gareth, though her value to me is unknown. My brother stands guard over the invisible snake. He is hurt more than most. See to him first while I look over the prisoner you felled. When he is mended I will return to her side. In his name I say you may trust us with this charge."
"But before you go, I would tell you this. We listened to your talk in the tavern with the Broken Cask. For good or ill, I do not trust them and do not think you should either. My Brother and I have other skills you AND the Broken Cask haven't seen. Before the snakes came, we were waiting for a chance to speak with you without the Broken Cask being aware. If the Cask is spoilt, it would be better they not know your full strength; especially if we were part of it, yes?"
"I am no leader for I’ve seen what it takes to become one, but having spent time amongst Hue-mans, I have seen what you call pohlatics. The manuverrs, promises and backstabbing have shown my eyes a broader game of relationships that Hue-mans play. I begin to see how things fit together in your world, or at least how they should. Your frrend Rreynahldoh thinks himself a leader but relies on being liked too much. A leader must see that all tasks are accomplished. If I say too much, purrhaps I offend?"

(Just to be clear, Gareth said “inn” right? That’s not a typo. He refers to an actual inn, not the Tavern we exited.
Also, Rrowullh and Khanmahtt never touched their drinks in the Tavern. This was by design, for I am assuming their hand paws and the way felines “lap up” their liquids rather than pouring them down their throats would have instantly labeled them as Tigran. They try to be inconspicuous until they know the ‘lay of the land’ in regard to non-humans as much as possible; wearing hooded cowls and scarf/masks that cover all but their eyes. Obviously these disguises don't bear bear up to close scrutiny or combat, but should be good enough to a casual observer. By the way, do Tigrans go bare-pawed (feet and hands)?
Is there a particularly Tigran drink they might have ordered (and the Tavern had), or if this world has some form of Bloodwine/Bloodbeer they might have had that. Because otherwise that dwarf is going to be disappointed by the large mugs of water he finds. They would have sent some sort of suitable tip the barmaid’s way to make up for her loss and discourage questions.)

As Enyeto leaves, Khanmahtt rises to his full height, slings his shield and returns a full two handed grip on his spear. “Snacas that can’t be seen are not to be trusted, bound, gagged or no. Find out why they all went to the Stables at the end. Did they slay hoarseflesh?” he calls to the young man.
To Reynaldo, “Take this bag of plunder and see if your frrend knows the marks. Purrhaps he will think of betturr questions to ask this thing when it wakes. I will watch it with both eyes for now. But be quick! A death thrrust to its throat will be more important to me than answers if it wakes and I am alone.”

Rrowullh shrugs and nods at Tembo's words. "Rude or not, the Lord Gareth is right. Let's move this woman to the comfort of her bed." "I think you misunderstand me, I did not question moving her. I questioned him coming in to grill her the moment she opens her eyes. That is why I asked you to keep an eye on her. Any undue stress may be fatal." "But before you go, I would tell you this. "...Your frrend Rreynahldoh thinks himself a leader but relies on being liked too much. A leader must see that all tasks are accomplished. If I say too much, purrhaps I offend?" "You could easily be right about the Broken Cask. They didn't come out to help the townsfolk in the fight. As to Reynaldo, while he is likable, that is not his main strength. I threw him off-balance by running in here alone, I'll admit. He is a good man and a good leader of men. Now where is your brother?"

"My comments of your leader are my own, do not let them make you doubt me, or us. I will watch over her like she was mine. If you accept our help from now, and vouch his ability, we would follow him on your say so. I have reason to trust your compassion more than his skill, so fahr. I think there is much you and I can discuss, different tho we are. My brother was just outside with the unseen one you felled. Fear not, I will let no other touch her. Please, go now."
(OOC: Thanks Lord Inar - sincerely. I wasn't trying to create any friction between Rrowullh and Tembo. Rather I think these two may build a strong bond given time. And yet, I've always had a subconscious rebellion against the "you meet some strangers in a Bar, get in a fight, and now suddenly you are life long friends" cliche. I hope my dialog, and your reply will allow for trust between the 4 of us, but will allow for some "dissention in the ranks" or "countermanded orders" as things go on. Keep in mind, Khanmahtt didn't always follow Rrowullh's lead in this last one either.)

Enyeto looks at his companions and says, "Watch the Snake closely. I'm going to find out how they got into the Keep." He then jogs over to the guards. He then asks Moe "Have you found out where the snakes entered the Keep?" There are a dozen guards behind the stable, where a thin alley separates it from the keep's wall. You find Moe, and he points to an area at the base of the wall. A hole about 2 feet in diameter has apparently been melted into it. "Must've been that snaca mage," he says. "Looks like they created this hole and then snuck in and attacked - but why? For that bag of crap from the healer?" The guard captain, who had been examining the hole stands up and barks out a few orders, telling several of his men to go house to house to make sure they are all gone, and then assigns several men to guard the hole. "I'm off to report to the baron, and get his mage to help repair this breach." With that the captain is off.

The paws of the tigrans have evolved fingers, they can indeed drink as opposed to lap. That is how I've always played 'em, but we have our own campaign world we are creating here, so if you feel strongly about redefining some aspects of the tigran race, that is cool with me, amigo. If you want the tigrans to have a bias for a drink like "Bloodwine" that is cool, and the tavern would have a small stock as this keep is on a pass through the Dayraise Mountains that connects the major human lands to the west and the wild veldts and steppes of the east coast, where most tigrans are concentrated. With either bloodwine or water, though, that dwarf would have been disappointed!]

Since things have calmed down and Tembo can work at his own pace, we are going to skip the Medic rolls. Everyone who was wounded is healed for 2 hits by his skill.
---------------------------------------------
Reynaldo steps back into the tavern to see the Broken Cask still gathered about thir table, loudly drinking. They initially do not look up, but eventually the orc sneers at you.
"Your service is no longer required, human. We found another volunteer."
The rest of them laugh at this, but offer no further explanation.
You do not see Norx anywhere in the room.

[OK, friends, we are just about done with this chapter. Go ahead and post your final actions of the evening before retiring to the Mistwraith Inn, or remind me if I missed anything you asked. Once you guys are at the Inn, we'll have a few more posts for that situation and then move to the next day, leaving for Cygnosa.]
