I had the chance to borrow my hubby's copy and play this game on Halloween. I loved it! Very creepy and disturbing. Vlad, you should be slapped for writing some of these passages. I didn't think it was either easy or impossible. If you've played DCG games before, then you know what to expect as far as the combats go, and how frequently they come about. They can beat you down, so resource mgt. is a key. A great game to play on a day like Halloween, when it's cold and creepy. Great job, Vlad, and the gang at DCG!

Thanks for the compliments, julie. And I do take being slapped as a compliment.
I haven't received, really any, feedback on the game, so I'm glad there's someone out there who's played it and enjoyed it.
By "borrow" do you mean "add to my collection?" ;D

By "borrow" do you mean "add to my collection?" ;D Isn't that what the hubby's stuff is?

Right on, Julie!
Vlad did a great job on the entire adventure, but in particular atmosphere and description stand out.
Marco had a good review, also, and he is a tough and fair-minded critic.

I played this one a few months ago. The blurb on the back page says it all--cool dark fantasy.

Hello jlv, and welcome aboard.
Yep, I'm familiar with Marco's reviews. Under the General Board heading there's a topic called "More Video Reviews" which, I think, has all of his reviews of DCG games.

Yep, I just saw that you would already have been. My apologies.
I also wanted to tell you that I thought the way you handled the Kraken was brilliant -- best methodology I've seen yet. So simple that I smacked myself on the forehead and thought, "Why didn't I think of that!?!?"

So much so that I'm hoping you'll be on tap to do something else soon. In some ways, I didn't agree with parts of Marco's videoreview -- he seemed to feel that the adventure was too linear, but given that the emphasis seemed to be more on the atmosphere of the game, vice the specifics of the plot, I felt that it was about right -- and man, you do atmosphere really well. Besides, there was plenty of hackery-slashery for even my most blood-thirsty moments. And the Kraken still just blows me away! I'd love to see and experience some more of your work! (Truth in advertising: I'd love to see more of everyone's work, not just yours; but you do definitely bring a different style to bear on the game, and I sure do like it. More in keeping with the Call of Cthulhu parts of my background, I guess. I always try to emphasize atmosphere when I'm running CoC too.... )

Yes, jlv, I'll agree that I'm more in my element with the creative writing aspect of the design than the nitty-gritty game mechanics, wargaming side of things--Bret and George were a great help in that. As for something else in the future, I'm always dabbling with one thing or another, so who knows? I may have something else at some point.
Thanks again for the compliments. You made my weekend!
