"Friend, if you were to travel to Thunder Keep you would have many perils. Not to mention the expense of travel and the tolls along the way. I will give you 50 silvers." He smiles and replaces the hatchet into his backpack. "We are at an impasse. So I will keep it and sell it at the trading post when we arrive back there. "I wish you fair travels."

"I have 70 silvers. You can take them or you can risk the road to the Keep." "What's 5 silvers amongst friends?"

"I have 70 silvers. You can take them or you can risk the road to the Keep." "What's 5 silvers amongst friends?" The dwargg had turned away, but at your words, he tugs at his beard fircely. Suddenly he barks an ugly laugh. "Ha! Well said, young human! I feel you may be exaggerating the 'friends' angle, and as Gort said we are not heading to the keep - I was speaking hypothetically, if you understand what that is - but your point is still valid. "Very well! 70 silvers it is!" With a strange florish, he pulls the black hatchet out of his pack and, after counting the silvers, hands it to you. "May it serve you well! And not against my own kind." He smiles again.

"Wait!" says Reynaldo. "Surely we can resolve this in a civilized manner, my friends."
[Sorry about the delay, I'll post more later].
Oops, my post was at the same time as the GM's, so please ignore!

"We are Reynaldo, Tembo, Norx, Enyeto and Mundy. Thank you for your hospitality and information. The fairness and kindness of Gort as a merchant and host will be spread far and wide."

"Hmm," Reynaldo rubs his chin for a moment. "These people who come to fetch the moss. Have they done this before? Can you be sure their intent is not to just take it and fly away? As I'm sure you know there are unscrupulous types below ground and above. Do you expect them soon?"
"Does the moss have healing properties?" as Tembo looks at the moss.

Reynaldo looks at the manor house. "Caprians in the manor? or just guards? Does the manor control the entrance? I will approach them if necessary or customary, but I would rather not."

As I'm sure you know there are unscrupulous types below ground and above. Do you expect them soon? Gort nods his head at your comments. "Indeed, the unscrupulous are a constant in my work. But these are customers I have dealt with for several years now, so I have trust in them. As to their arrival, I do not expect them for another hour at the least, but it is difficult to say."

"Hmm," Does the moss have healing properties?" as Tembo looks at the moss. "Er - no," Gort says. "This particular strain has strong narcotic properties, particularly for elves. "I see by your gear you have some interest in herbal properties. When you get to the trading post, you should look for Ballard's shop. He may have some things to interest you."

Reynaldo looks at the manor house. "Caprians in the manor? or just guards? Does the manor control the entrance? I will approach them if necessary or customary, but I would rather not." "Ah, you have not been here before, then. Yes, the manor is the residence of several caprian lords, and their retainers and families and troops. "The entrance to Cygnosa is beneath the manor. They tolerate no lodgers, that is why we - and others who travel this route - must camp in this dreary courtyard. "But you do need to knock on the door and tell the guards who answer that you seek entrance to the mountain. They may give you a hard time, but they will certainly allow you to use the entrance, provided you are able to pay their toll. The first of many tolls you will encounter, though not all are legitimate. "Since you will be entering for the first time, I will tell you the legitimate tolls. Besides the caprians here, you should pay the first orcs you come to on the first level, the Axefeast tribe. A nominal toll. from there the trade route is clearly marked. Further on the first level, as you bear south and east toward the second level, you will come to a dragon's lair on the route. Gaum is old and not particularly aggressive, as long as you pay his toll. You may rest at his location, and he is a merchant as well, so you may find something to your liking. "Anyone else on the first level demanding toll or tribute is an opportunist; deal with them as you see fit. "Once you have taken the stairs to the second level, you come to a dwargg guardpost. They will demand some tribute for you to enter the second level, it may be a hundred silvers or it may be a personal combat. "And then just past this checkpoint you come to the cavern holding the trading post. I assume that is your destination; if not I would be happy to provide further information."

At this second mention of Axefeast tribe, Rrowullh carefully looks over towards Norx to see what if any reaction he gives.
Does he appear to be listening to Gort? How closely is he minding his backpack and it's mysterious cargo?

Khanmahtt looks over Enyeto's shoulder at the fine axe the lad has just purchased.
"That is a fine weapon my frrend. Almost made purrfectly for your hands. But I notice now that you have only two hands and three axes." He whuffles in good natured laughter at his little joke. "Purrhaps I should teach you to juggle them all so you do not have to give one up? And maybe you can show me how you manage two at a time?"

Enyeto checks the heft of his new weapon and sticks it in his belt. "khan if I had your skill, I would be able to handle three."
Shadout waits for the rest of the group to advance toward the door. He then goes to Gort and begins a side conversation.

How closely is he minding his backpack and it's mysterious cargo? Norx is listening closely to Gort's words. It is difficult to tell, but he may have reacted a bit at the mention of the Axefeast tribe. The large backpack is always either on his back, or close at hand. He does seem to be concious of it at all times.

Reynaldo slaps Norx in the back, "I know we've been doing more talking than fighting or drinking good friend. We'll be in the mountain where you'll see enough action soon enough."
To the others, "Shall we talk to the Caprians? Let's see, Rrollwuh, Enyeto, would you like to entreat with the manor before entering?"
---- "Ballards?" Tembo nods "Thank you. Is there a healer in your group with whom I could share some of knowledge of herbs as thanks?"
