Enyeto follows Khanmahatt and watches his show with great interest and wonder. (Still just a kid)
Shadout walks with Reynaldo to take an audience with Lord Yobs.

Khanmahtt earns a bemused nod from Lord Yobs before he returns to conversing with Reynaldo and Shadout. As the tigran moves his juggling to another crowd, Enyeto joins him and several goblins shout drunken praise. One of them mentions "Turbutt," and then several others take up a chant of "Turbutt! Turbutt!" As Khanmahtt wonders what this means, another goblin, taller than the others, staggers over. "Juggling, eh? You can't best me, Turbutt the Dextrous! Watch THIS!" He pulls out three daggers and begins flipping them in the air, juggling effortlessly until... invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3284036/...he tosses them each a final time and they land in a perfect row before the watching tigran. The gathered goblins cheer and chant his name again briefly before turning back excitedly to Khanmahtt. "Well?" they ask impatiently. One particularly helpful goblin thrusts out a battered cup filled with wine. "It helps your balance," she explains.

Not wanting to interrupt Lord Yobs and Reynaldo, Rrowullh turns to Eggs. "You mentioned another band of goblins here, outside the mountain. Can-nibuls? Is that what that tribe calls itself? How can we tell them apart from you? We would hate to make a mistake upon our return." While he speaks, he steals furtive glances at the crowd around Kahnmahtt. [One, he's watching to see how Khanmahtt's approach is accepted, but secondly he'll survey the crowd for any opportunities for larceny. Any noticeable valuables lazily set aside or left behind. At this point in his life, casing a crowd is mostly second nature. He doesn't intend to steal anything, but old habits die hard. Plus it can't hurt to look.] Eggs smiles again. "We call them cannibals, which means they eat other goblins for food. I don't know what they call themselves. You can tell us apart because they are humorless and do not drink." A few goblins standing nearby nod in assent. One adds, "They also bathe less than we do. You might smell them before you can see them." Rrowullh, with his sensitive nose, is a bit nauseous at the concept of the other goblins smelling worse than this camp, but perhaps that will help. Eggs assures him the cannibals have no symbol of their own; when pressed about Yob's symbol, Eggs shruggs and hols up the winecup. Scanning the crowd, the tigran cannot help but notice a casualness among the goblins about possesssions. There is nothing to his eye that matches the term "valuable," but there are plenty of winecups and discarded pieces of clothing around.

Lord Yobs looks at Shadout. "A mage, eh? I can smell it. We have a few here in the camp. Depending on your stash of spells, you might seek out Cruella and Jack. They may have something to sell you."
He overhears Eggs telling Rrowullh about the cannibal goblins, then tells Reynaldo, Tembo, and Shadout, "Did the cannibals ambush you? They have been driven off the ridge here several times over the years, but that band keeps coming back. They usually are holed up at a crumbled tower northwest of here. On the trail to the caprian keep, there is a lesser trail heading off to the left and over a ridge, leading to the tower. Not sure if they have any treasure, but if you whacked 'em, we'd be able to party harder."

Khamahtt takes the offered cup and gives it a suspicious sniff. "Does this really leak out of sheep's bladders like your good Lord says?" He gives it a taste. [Provided he dosn't need to make a roll to swallow it or keep it down...] He does his best to drain the cup, hamming it up as best he can.
"Now where were we? Ah yes, daggerz. I have no need for those." With that and a flourish he displays his claws, then launches into a mimed attempt at juggling them. Waiting a heartbeat for laughs or groans from his audience, "Not the same is it? So you have me at a disadvantage. Hmm... what to do?"
He slumps to one side as if the wine has overcome him, and then tumbles suddenly away, somersaulting, diving and leaping his way around the fire, occassionally circling a nearby goblin, but eventually making his way back to Turbutt & the knives, Laughing in full showbusiness mode the entire way.
[http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3284158/ rolled a 7.]
"Well Turbutt my excellent chum, are we friends? Can two such as we entertain the befuddled masses together. I think we could give them a show such as they've never seen. Or do you really want me to try my paws at juggling your daggerz? They're getting dirty by the way."

Rrowullh stares at Eggs' upraised winecup for a moment, then nods his understanding. "That symbol holds true for your folk and your Lord. Far truer than many of the rags upraised above tribes I have seen, be they Hue-man, goblin or other. Besides, I see your people seem to have those cups in abundance." He gestures to the crowd, the abandoned empty cups, and points to one nearby goblin who somehow is in the process of refilling one cup, while simultaneously drinking from another and holding on to 3 more partially filled ones, with pretty much success.

Shadout: Bowing slightly to Lord Yobs, "Thank you for the information me Lord." "The cannibals did indeed ambush us. We gave them a bloody nose and sent them on there way." "We left the bodies for the scavengers to feed upon."
Enyeto stands at the front of the circled crowd. Watching the performers with amazement and cheering on his tigran friend.

When you make it back to Turbutt, they have gotten your name from Enyeto and all are cheering, "Khanmahtt! Khanmahtt!" Turbutt is laughing, too. "Yes, furball, my daggers are getting dirty. So! You envision something grander than knife-juggling! Tell me what you have in mind for a show such as this drunken mob has never seen! I will gladly follow your lead, though I fear your acrobatics are superior to mine."

"We left the bodies for the scavengers to feed upon." "Ah, then it seems we must contend with those jerks again, soon." He smiles. "Unless of course you take care of them for us. Consider it. Though we would not want to interfere in your quest - whatever it is."

Mundy takes a battered cup and indulges in some wine with some goblins repairing some arrows.
Norx is impatient and morose as he sips some wine by himself. He says to Tembo, "When you can interject a word with our fearless leader, find out whetehr we are going to rest here for the night. If so, I would like to find an area to stretch out." As he talks, he is absent-mindedly tapping his bulging backpack at his feet.

Tembo will pass along the information. Reynaldo nods in assent, a firm believer in both safety in numbers and the evil you know vs. the evil you don't.
He then speaks to Lord Yobs, "Good Lord Yobs, may we rest here for the night in the comfort and safety of your abode? We will of course contribute by supplementing your night watch with one of own throughout the night."

Yobs smiles. "Ha! Evading my skillful inquiries into your purpose, eh? No matter! We goblins - well, the non-cannibals, that is - appreciate the enigmatic!
"Of course you can bed down here. You have each contributed two silvers, and to poor, honest drinkers such as ourselves, that suffices for a night's stay as well. Our food is in shorter supply, so I assume you will eat your own.
"As to your offer of sharing our watch, there is admittedly little need. Though since the cannibals have returned, perhaps there is! Our military mind is Eggs. Ask him about the watch arrangements."
At this point Eggs tells Reynaldo, that he would indeed like to have two volunteers, one to watch from now until 10 bells, and the second to watch from 10 bells past midnight (12 bells) until 1 bell. They would be watching the track you came from, leading down the western face of Cygnosa.
Mundy volunteers for one of the watches. Norx snorts and goes to find a place to stretch out.

[There will not be any attacks this night, so post any final questions or activities for this evening; then we will pick things up from the following morning. I am taking the 2 silvers and a day's rations from everyone's stores.]

The next morning, you awake mostly refreshed (possible slight hangover...nothing debilitating). Grabbing your gear, you walk among the goblins, a few awake and going about tasks, a few still awake and toasting your health, most passed out on rough bedding.
You assemble under reynadlo, and head north toward the caprian keep.
[This entry assumes you take that route. If you instead wished to go south to the caves of the batknights, let me know and we will revise.]
You follow the trail to an exposed ridge. You cross it carefully, as it is a prime spot for an ambush. Reaching the far side, you find the trail continues upward and northward, and between mists of rain you spy the keep a mile or so away.
There is also a lesser path running off to the west, over another ridge and out of sight. The way to the ruined tower the cannibal goblins stay at?
You may take this path, or continue on to the keep.

"Well," says Reynaldo to the rest of the group. "How strong is your sense of vengeance? It is of course my job as leader of the mission to suggest continuing forward. If you wish to pursue our attackers first, I recognize the spirit of such a decision."
Tembo purposefully steps back to let the others have their say.

Shadout: "I agree with you, Reynaldo, we should press on." " The goblins can wait for another day."
Enyeto nods his agreement.
