Hello. I'm checking the new rules on the website, the DCG Adventure starter, but it seems to be missing some rules or at least some of them are unclear.
For example, the old rules number 20190724 (for Legends of Ancient Worlds) says, under CHARACTERS "New Characters:
Unless the adventure specifies otherwise, new characters start with ST8, DX8, IQ8, and eight discretionary points (32 total). Characters begin with four points of skills, two of which can be combat skills. Magic characters begin with four points of spells and skills."
The new general rules (number 20230401a) simply say "SAMPLE PARTY - Here is a sample party of four characters. You can also create your own. For each character, assign 32 points to ST, DX, and IQ. Give at least 8 points to each attribute. A character is either normal or a wizard." I've read here on the forum that new characters still start with 4 skills, but what about spells? The sample mage starts with 3 spells, but since none of the sample characters has skills, the information is unclear.
Also, the old rules say that "Increasing Attributes - A character increases his ST/DX/IQ by spending twice the number of XPs of his current level. Human characters max out at 42 attribute points. (...) Increasing skills/spells - A character raises a skill one point by spending 10XP or 20XP for a spell. A mage spends 10XP for a spell, or 20XP for a skill level."
In the new rules is only said that "Attributes - Characters increase attributes by spending XP = 3/2 x current attribute, rounded down. (...) Skills - A character learns a one-point skill by spending 10XP."
So now attributes rise by spending 1.5 x current attributes, while skills - for both normal and magic characters - increase by spending 10XP. But the "cap" to 42 attribute points is still relevant? And, much more important, now a character how does gain new spells? Are they "free", without spending any XP? And normal characters can stille learn spells?
Thank you for the answers.
