Hi! Hawken here (old D&D charcter from the good ole days) a.k.a. Tim.
I did a lot of RPGs back in the early 80's. I remember the first time I played Melee, I was hooked. My brother and I would even set up way past our bed time with a flash light under the desk, map spread out between us trying to out maneuver each other for the chance for the first attack.. LOL. After that we added in a bit of Wizards. At the time that's about as far as we got into the Micro games, being absorbed in AD&A with our neighborhood friends.
Over the years I had to let go of a lot of my collection due to not so game friendly of a wife(EX). Here lately with a little push from my friends I started selling my painted figures on E-Bay and using the funds to help me regain the memories I was forced to depart with so many years ago. I found you guys a while back but have just now gotten time to really try to start playing again. I DLed the LAW rules and OHM and plan on getting into it this weekend =).
Well that's me and I'm sure you'll be seeing more of me from here out. I'm looking forward to possibly getting into one of your turn based games soon.
BTW the Dragon Slayer Models is what I go by on ebay if any one gets a chance to check out my work. That's not a solicitation for you to buy just a friendly offer of appraisal.
Thanks guys, hope to talk to you more.

Hail and well-met, Hawken!
Looking forward to hearing more from you. I cruise ebay occasionally, mostly looking for older 25mm figures in bulk - old Heritage (Custom cast, Fantastiques), Grenadier, and Ral Partha are my favorites. I have close to 5,000 so I don't need many more, but I'll keep an eye out for your name. Shame you have to part with them! I need to sell some of mine - for the space - but I would almost rather chew off a leg to make the room. I hope you can keep some of them. Feel free to post some pics in our Minis forum.
I may be starting up a smaller play-by-post game in the next few months (assuming that is what you meant by turn-based) set in Redpoint, so keep an eye out.
Welcome to the boards!

Hi Bret, thanks for the welcome. Yeah I meant play-by-post. I to have been looking for the older figures in bulk as well. You can usually tell if it's an actual mini or one of the reproductions. I try to shy away from the ones that look freshly primed white. I kind of get the feeling their trying to hide the patina of the newly cast lead. Dungeon Dweller box sets are the main ones I look for, then branch out to heritage and grenadier. I plan on getting all I can then painting them up for showcase wall here at the house. I have been painting sense the 80's and have even done a few contract jobs for the GW outriders back in 88' when GW was just getting their good start here in the US. The things I paint now are more up to date but that's the market. I'll keep a lot for my own collection but I paint key pieces and squads for resale. I even love the historical Napoleonic figures. www.ebay.com/itm/230823338986Here's a link to one item. You can follow the "See other items" from this seller to see a few more pics. Least till i figure how to add photos here this is the only way I can link it. Soon as i do i can show pics of models that have already sold. Like before I'm not soliciting just the only way to link my pics for the moment. I'll be looking forward to your play-by-post game.

Holy cow, Hawken, that is a beautiful paint job! I checked out the rest of what you had, and they all look fantastic!
I know what you are talking about with re-casts. There are a few sellers doing that, and I got snookered once. There were a few recasts in a large lot, so I don't think that seller did it intentionally, but there are some who do!
I do buy a few recasts, though, from a guy who has the legal rights to do so. They are more expensive than the old figs, but I like the seller. He has a lot of Dungeon Dwellers, including some models that were never released. Michael runs the Disciples of Heritage Yahoo site, and he has an excel spreadsheet showing all he has now. In fact, I just got an email from him today saying that new molds have come in, including a few Dungeon Dwellers - the bugbears, if I recall. Check it out if you are interested, let me know if you want the link. Since I use my figures, I don't mind them being recasts, though I prefer nasty old lead!
Feel free, when you are able, to post some pics in the mini forum, and put your ebay handle in the post. I appreciate you not wanting to hawk your stuff, but I don't mind keeping it low key and helping you sell a few models, if possible.

Thanks for the Kudos Bret! I really appreciate it.
Yes, I would like the link to Disciples of Heritage when you get the chance.
From a collector and nostalgic point of view I would like the show cased ones to be original; but like you said, the ones I would play with would be fine as recast.
I'll see what I can do to get the pics in the forum. If any one has any pointers, considering I'm no computer pro, I would gladly listen. I would think having them loaded strait into the post would work best maybe or link?

Hey Hawken, Here is the Disciples link: groups.yahoo.com/group/disciplesofheritage/You have to join Yahoo, and then send a message to Michael, the moderator, asking to join, but it is pretty easy and straightforward. As far a pictures, I am an e-barbarian as well! But What i have figured out is that you need to have a link to them, as you cannot put a picture in a post (at least, not that I have figured out). I opened up a Photobucket account (lots of space for free). When you want to post a photo, hit "reply" rather than Quick Reply at the bottom. When you do so, look to the Add Tags line, and on the second row you will see a little picture - when you mouse over it, it says Insert Image. Click on that, and then between the two bracketed letter strings, paste the link/url to the image. It will show up in your post. Hope that helps! Bret

Hello Everyone, I'm julie, longtime lurker, first time poster. I played my first set of DCG games a couple of months ago, and really liked them, so I thought I'd checkout your board. Looks like a fun place,so I thought I'd hang around a bit. My first RPGs were the White Wolf line of games about 12 years ago. I've since dabbled a bit in the D&D line and now your games. I enjoy the storytelling aspects of RPGs more than getting into the rules and numbers crunch. That's it. Now you know a little bit about me.

Hello, julie, and welcome to our boards! I hear you on rules. Obviously we enjoy toying around with them a bit, but the experience of play is the main thing we are about. That is why we concentrate on adventures, rather than making the definitive version of LAW or The Fantasy Trip. My prefences float around a bit, sometimes i prefer rules heavy, other times rules lite. But most of my RPGing these days is of the lite variety. We appreciate your support, and we're glad you find our boards a nice place. Feel free to contribute anything you want to. Thanks for the kind words, and welcome once more! Bret

Hi Im Mike, going by the forum title of DrMike. I've been gaming since the late 70's and probably discovered Melee and Wizard in 79/80, then on to ITL. I GMed a long running ITL campaign while I was in the service, which was based on ancient Greece and Rome and have continued to run this in one form or another since then. A few years ago I came across Dark City Games and have really enjoyed the programmed adventures - I game with a group of guys who play a number of different systems (Warhammer, D&D, Pathfinder etc but ITL and LAW are my preferences). Looking forward to reading the threads and adding a comment or two when I feel qualified.

Looking forward to reading the threads and adding a comment or two when I feel qualified. Hi and welcome Mike, just being here and having thoughts on the matter makes you qualified! This group has spurts of activity and then quiet periods, but there are a number of us who who have been here a long time (from before it migrated here). I'm not officially part of DCG, just a long-time fan. - Marc

Hey Mike,
Welcome to the boards!
Lord Inar is correct - you are here, that makes you qualified!
Thanks for the compliments on our adventures. I have been working on the latest two (one mine, one a submission) and hope to have them complete by the fall.
All comments are welcome, so please make yourself at home!

Hello to everyone,
My name is Jim (jimmyd) and, as many other posters here did, I started playing Melee and Wizard back in the late 70's. I can still remember how excited my best friend and I were to finally get the TFT books after months of restless waiting. I still covet those books. During our high school and college years a group of us spent countless hours in TFT campaigns and had a great time. 35 years later we still talk about those adventures.
Two years ago I happened to come across the DCG website and decided to try Orcs of The High Mountains with my son. I now have several DCG adventures and I run a LOTS campaign for my son and five of his friends.
I live in the northeast and enjoy skiing, miniature wargamming, board games, and karate. I find that I have a lot of connection to many people on these boards and look forward to sharing ideas about DCG games.
Thanks for reading and... see you on the boards.
-Jim

Welcome aboard, Jim. I feel like I've missed something having not been exposed to TFT, Melee, Wizard, and ITL family of games back in the day. But, I'm making up for lost time with LAW, LTS, and LUW, the Neo-Fantasy Trip, if you will.

Jim,
Welcome to the boards! You've already contributed to them in an asymmetric fashion with your LTS thread (or, LoST if your prefer, heh)! I am glad you added the pictures!
