Pneumonica has translated directly. Though probably won't be here much, I won't let any other Pneumonicas run through this forum. ^^ Wait, you wanted a real name? Oh, well then it's

That's cool, Pneumonica, we don't kiss and tell here. Unless you are Uma Thurman, in which case I am shouting it from the top of the Empire State Building and Mount Rushmore. No one else has to post their names here, this thread is mostly an aide to anyone who has to contact George or I directly, they can tell which mysterious moniker to send complaints to.

Nukesnipe is Scott Chisholm. I've been playing TFT since the mid-'70s, and DCG games since just about the start.
I'm always happy to toss in my two cents if I have the time....

Hey, I'd figure I'd introduce myself here. I'm another Scott. I started playing "Wizard" when I was 10 or so. The local hobby store never got in Melee so for years we just played with Wizard and Advanced Wizard. I didn't even get Melee until the mid or late 80s so for my friend and I, we have always referred TFT to as "Wizard". Still do though we haven't played since the early 90s.
I have all the old TFT MicroQuests. Most of them I played extensively with said friend when we were kids. We did both Death Tests a bunch of times along with Treasure of the Silver Dragon. Grail Quest (my favourite) I only ever did solo but it was great. I think someone else on the board mentioned how Master of the Amulets was their least favourite. Me too lol. Oh yeah, we did Security Station a few times too. We died a lot. I ended up running a more free flowing campaign after we got older ending in an epic war between warring wizard states which the players won.
Treasure of Unicorn Gold I picked up later on but we were switching over to a different game and never played it. Orb Quest I picked up on eBay a few years ago. I haven't even cut up the counters for Orb Quest yet never mind playing it.
Anyway, cheers everyone.

Hail Jasper,
Welcome to our forum!
If you ever get the urge to relate the details on that wizard war, I'd love to read it!
Grail Quest was pretty much my favorite, too. The Dark Vale is kind of an homage to it, though it is not Arthurian.

Finally! It's about time I registered for this board huh? Anyway, I'm Grishnakh, or David. I've been playing TFT ever since it first came out way back in 1882, or was it 1922, something like that. Let's leave it simply as a long time ago. Otherwise I'll feel really old. Still play whenever I can. Mostly at local conventions in the Northeast. (I'll be gaming TFT at TotalCon in Feb.) I also catch an occasional game here on Long Island with some gaming friends. Anyway, liked the game so much I created and maintain my own website dedicated to it. You may have stumbled upon it: www.meleewizards.comI've also done some cover art work for the gang here at Dark City Games. I'm a "classic" RPG artist, or so I've been told by those who seem to know about such things. You can see my website at: www.davidomiller.comAnyway, I've gotten to know the guys who run this site pretty well, mainly at GenCon. As everyone here knows they've put out some pretty cool stuff over the years. Great people. I only wish we lived closer together so we could get in some games now and then. Looking forward to hanging out and talking gaming! David

I'm gigglestick. Jerry Meyer Jr.
I did some writing and editing for George and DCG a few years ago. Even a few adventures (Orcs of the High Mountains and the now OOP Little Black Book were my contributions).
I've been playing TFT since the days of Metagaming and I love RPGs in general. Recently, I took over running the inthelabyrinth yahoo game for Kelly Nall while he goes back to college.
I've been an old-school and new school gamer for decades, and I still love a good RPG.

I guess I should do one of these as well. My name is David (as well, seems to be quite a few of us about) and I'm 46 and have been gaming for almost 40 years. I am primarily a historical miniatures gamer, but have also played RPGs since about 1978. I played a lot of Melee/Wizard in the early 1980s. I owned, but never played, ITL, and really only used Melee/Wizard as a board game (I usually played RoleMaster or Runequest as my main fantasy RPGs). I've come back to Melee/Wizard, and the DCG versions, as a way to get my three kids interested in gaming and RPGs and away from the Xbox and computer. I'm starting up a Untamed West game with them based on the movie Tombstone, as that is a favourite of theirs and they want to be the Earps and Doc Holliday. Next up will be a Conan one-shot game based on the original film with Arnie (and the kids will be Conan, Subotai, and Valeria), I just need to find the miniatures. I currently live in Brussels, Belgium, where I have worked for an international military alliance ( ) for the last 16 years. Cheers, David

Hello, my name is Jeff and I am addicted to programmed games. Crowd chants,"Hi Jeff".
I started playing RPGs and tactical board games in 1976. I loved, Melee, Wizard and Death Test when they came out. We played them every day. I later bought everything from Metagaming and played them all. I did many campaigns using ITL rules and topped it off with Tolenkar's Lair. However, to this day, Grail Quest and the original Death Test were my favorite ones. I even programmed the original Death Test for the Commodore 62 back in the day. ( A really old computer that had the computer in the keyboard).
In addition, I was big into GURPS, D&D and Traveler. This went on until about 1992 when I was forced to grow up. Over the years I would try to get a group together, but found it very hard to arrange 3-5 adults to come over and play RPGs. I discovered DCGs a couple of years ago and started playing the programmed games a love them! Still get a group together to play once or twice a year, but it is a rare thing.
I used the ITL and advanced Melee rules for playing, but slowly switched to LAW. I have found I like LAW better and it is much easier to teach new players. Not sure if I will ever give this hobby up! Imagination is endless and like GURPS, LAW adventures can take place in space, ancient Rome, the old west, etc.
Online games are fun, but nothing will replace role playing and the old microquests for me.

Hello, Jeff,
Welcome to our boards!
Thanks for the thoughtful reviews you posted in the individual games' forums (er...fora).
Your favorites of the old microquests were also mine, as I have blathered on about at several places around here.
Role playing is always challenging to do in a programmed adventure, without it seeming pretentious or railroady. I think we have come up with some effective techniques, particularly in our latter games. But the one thing we have found is that everyone has different expectations, even as to what constitutes role-playing in a programmed adventure. We try to meet them all, of course!
Welcome again!
Bret
